In South Central Wisconsin. Janesville to be exact, DH and I have been searching for our hobby farm land.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (we're the capital City of our Province) and have one of the largest urban forests.

We live on the North Fork of the Snake River, called the Henry's Fork in Salem, Idaho. Near Rexburg and St. Anthony.
Gratefully living on the "fat of the land". |

Just outside of Diamond, Washington which is located between Colfax and Endicott. Our farm sits just above the Palouse River.

In the heartland - outside of Hutchinson, KS. Hometown of Milledgeville, GA. But I've left pieces of my heart in the San Rafael Swell of UT; Moose, WY; the San Luis Valley of CO; Ripton, VT and Fenton Lake, NM. What my heart desires most is a few acres of ground with a view of something that inspires me....

Wow, that was interesting. Do you have any pictures of stories from the town when it was a growing metropolis?

Yes I have many many. My great gr gr grandparents lived and worked in the town and we now live in the house they built in 1910 after the town moved because of the railroad.

Cynthia, I don't know if this is the forum or not, but I would love to see some of the pictures and hear some of the stories about your family and town. It must be neat to have such history in your home. IN FACT, it would be fun to hear about all our farm sisters backgrounds and those who came before them who may have tilled the land, ran mercantile shops, who defended the country, or forged their way West as mine did on the Oregon Trail. Sometimes, when I have felt as though I couldn't work through a problem, I thought of those people who lived before me who suffered much worse than I. We may be uplifted by these stories.

There ya go! I knew nothing of the Amana colonies (thought they must be the factory for making Amana products...stupid me) and after googling, learned alot about that group and the history of your region. Really interesting. I know those in the Palouse area around Moscow, ID and in Eastern WA have much history to crow about too. I think learning a little about our areas tie us together as sisters even more!! Thanks for that!
