Ladies,

I had such an incredible walk this morning that really lit a fire under me and inspired me to begin a wish list of all the things I'd like to do this fall that I know will specifically fill me up and bring me joy!

1. Take sewing lessons
2. Bake early for holiday gifts
3. Put specific "look books" together of all the recipes, decorating ideas, kitschy gadget and misc. articles and items that I've pulled out of magazines.
4. Sew a really fine vintage repro car coat for myself!
5. Learn how to sew beautiful, professional looking aprons & pillows.
6. Make dilly beans.
7. Spend quality time with my lovely boyfriend in our new home.
8. Find an amazing job with an amazing employer(s) who is generous, loving and kind. This job will be close to my home and will have regular working hours and some flexibility for travel and time off.
9. Travel to Washington State to spend time with my family and friends.
10. Finish the 1st floor of our new house including painting the trim, getting the radiators in before it gets too cold and decorating so that it feel like home.
11. Spend quality time with my daughter.

I could go on and on, but that's a great start.

I can hardly wait to see what's on your list. I'm sure it will inspire me to add to mine.

Have a wonderful day!

My list has been downsized a bit--Violet is 6.5 months old and I have VERY little energy for anything other than working full time and taking care of her and sleeping. I would like to, this weekend, get some Autumn items out, since by now, I usually have all my Halloween decorations up!

This is a mighty condensed list...

1.Knit a hat for Violet. This could be a challenge considering I practically fall asleep driving home from work at night!

2.Make the kitchen functional--it's very small, so space is at a minimum and I'd like to reorganize/delete/minimize my collections, paint the walls and cabinets, and put the plate rack up.

3.Travel--day trips, long weekends, whatever. I need my husband to take a Friday and Saturday night off now and again. Money is really good, though, too, so it's a toss up!

4. Read. I really love to read books in the Fall, on the porchswing...but I can hardly keep my eyes open when I start!

Linda: my wish is to take it easy and just enjoy the fall weather. I've been so busy canning and nesting for winter for a whole month and I'm ready to take in Autumn and all it's glory!

Here are a couple other things:

1. Enjoy The farmgirl round-up and Harvest Hop at my Farm
2. Am looking forward to a day trip to West Virginia with the hubsters. Our plan is to take a backroad and see where it leads us.

Hi Jonni!
Long time no chat! Listen being a Mom and working leave very little time for anything else. I hope you get to that cap for Violet but if you don't there's always next year!
Dawn,
Your trip on the back roads sounds fantastic, perhaps Dan and I need to meander around for a day and just see what we stumble onto!
Elaine, what's Geocache?

Hmmm! that's an interesting question.....Let's see-
1.Getting dad's cataracts taken care of
2. Look into getting a tenor banjo (4 string)
3. start learning Yuletide carols on mandolin & dulcimer.
4. learn how to nurture & support the carpenter bees that have lived in the backyard for years.
5.get the 5 string banjo out of the storage unit we're renting.
6.continue my uncluttering & get Dad to unload as well.

Linda, geocaching involves using a GPS receiver and going out into nature and looking for containers (geocaches) that people have hidden. I bet there's some around the area you live in. These 'caches' contain little trade items that you can take and leave something in it's place. There's also a logbook to sign in them and you go and log your visit on a website as well. There's more info on this hobby/sport on www.geocaching.com. That site is also where the geocaches are found online and you put the co-ordinates into the GPSr. I love going, it really gets you out into some places in nature that you might not otherwise have gone. And most geocachers are very nature friendly. There is a saying, if you go into an area leave it in better condition than you found it. A lot of us take trash bags and pick up any litter that might be about.

Linda, I just checked out the caches in your hometown and there's over 400 geocaches within 10 miles of the center of your town! You probably walk or pass by some everyday.

Hi Linda!!! Hope you are well! Thanks for the encouragement, I do get a little discouraged that I can be the superwoman I think that I am!!!

Lainey, we've done some geocaching, ourselves. I didn't use a gps, though, we used a wepage that a Brit friend gave to us. It was called something else, too, other than geocaching. How vague is that for you? :)

OMG Elaine that is SO cool! I'm going to go check it out. This would be quite an adventure to explore. Thanks so much for the info.
Jonni, being a Mom is the hardest work in the world and some days if you haven'r picked yourself bald with all the multi-tasking you have to do AND somehow managed to remember to put on clean underwear, we call that a damn good day! LOL! Hang in there!

Let's see. I make a list of things just to hot to do in the TX summer. So my list is

1. Finish painting and reupholstering a antique rocker I picked up.
2. Rebind a couple of antique quilts now that I've found the right fabric to use.
3. Finish hand quilting a quilt I made.
4. Learn to knit and crochet, well to take a class and improve my self taught skills that I am not secure in.
5. Finish a stained glass panel for my sis in law to go above her bedroom door.
6. Make aprons from vintage patterns to give for Christmas presents.
7. Frame some of my hand work with antique frames I finally found.

Oh gosh now I'm exhausted so I think I'll just take a nap. Maybe I'll hire George to do my list. LOL

Smiles, Melody June

Since this is only a "wish" list

1) Finish the gazillion craft projects I've already started
2) Learn to knit with double pointed needles so I can make a felted wool hat
3) Put the garden to bed
4) Finish the front yard landscaping project
5) Paint my bedroom
6) Move up to Cheyenne so I can be with my DH (he's currently working there during the
week and coming home on weekends)
7) Cook several freezer or crock pot meals that I can take out when I don't feel like
cooking
8) Make kitchen curtains and them embroider them
9) Make slipcovers for my living room sofa and chairs

Golly, I think that's more than enough! We're only talking a few short months after all! Good topic though. We need to come back in January and say how many of our "wishes" were granted!

Audrey, I live 30 miles away from my house and live on the property where I work. I'm a "weekend wife" which is really tough. I so feel your desire to be with your hubby!
And this Geo caching sounds so amazing! I've never heard of it before but i looked at the site and want to investigate some more. it sounds like too much fun!
Going to make the 30 mile trek tonight to spend some alone time in my new little house. I have to come back tonight but a few hours in my own little space can go a long, lon way.

My list is simpler because I don't have responsibilities with children any more and my grandchild is a whole state away.
1.Find pretty color fall leaves to copy on my computer to put on paper and cloth.
2.Make a list (making lists is fun, provided you do something on it that can be crossed off) of things I would like to do and then put them in order of fun and not fun. Sometimes the stuff on your list isn't the stuff that bothers you the most. Pick what bothers you the most and do that first. The rest will seem easier to do. Pick one not so fun thing to do second. Then a fun thing. It's amazing when you alternate and get the ugly stuff (like cleaning the bathroom)out of the way.
3.Get good smells in the kitchen. Bake bread, heat apple cider, use pumpkin and spices. Smells make us happy or sad too.
4.Write at least 2 handwritten letters.
5.Take a drive with my husband to take in nature's beauty.
6.Work on my quilt. My Mary Jane's fabric came today. A perfect thing to work on when the chores are done.
7.Help someone else who needs help, or just listen to someone who needs care.
8. Give thanks for the riches we have: health, food, farm, skills and talents.
9.Get started on the home-made Christmas presents.
10.Remember to rearrange the list I made so I will get some things done. I know I will be frustrated and stressed if I do too much.
11.Plan meals.

I would really like to:
- reclaim my house and get it clean and feel that it IS clean
- feel like I am not pulled in a million directions and be able to feel
like I'm RESTED
- work on my Christmas projects
- ENJOY Fall!!!!
- see resolution to a horrendous nightmare situation with family members.

I also want to remember to be grateful for what I have, for my family, for my health and for the things I am able to enjoy!!!

Lovely and inspiring to read your lists. Audrey, thank you for the reminder that it is only a few months...that will help me (I hope!)keep my list shorter than it might be otherwise.

1) Sew 3 aprons and bake/freeze the bread for Tie One On Day so I won't be stressed at the last minute.
2) Complete a trash-to-treasure redo of a vintage bench.
3) Put the roses and veggie garden to bed when it is time. Before then, get every last bit of usuable food from it stored up for my family.
4) Sew grocery bag totes for everyody on my Christmas list (http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/posie_gets_cozy/2009/04/jane-market-bag.html) Stash Busting!
5) Start doing my Pilates and treadmill workouts again and lose another 5# so my winter clothes will fit better!
6) Inventory and re-organize my freezers, rotating older food again.
7) Load a quilt in the frame and get it started already, it's been 2 years since I've quilted a top for heavens sakes!
8) Make and send my Christmas Apron for the swap.
9) Complete more upcycled aprons for a future Etsy shop. (dream, dream)
10) Remember to rest and enjoy Autumn before it slips away!
11) Force myself (hahaha)to read your posts every day and get to know you wonderful Farmgirl Sisters out there.
12) And I forgot, I need to get my quilts and UFO tops out to take digital photos of them all.
Whew!

I love it gals. You are so energetic when you're young. This is only a 4 month season. Keep making lists and cross things off. You'll feel good.........Better to have a long list than to be like so many really old people with nothing to do or anyone to do it with. Dream, create, love!
