that isn't even a 100th of the amount of yoyos in my home most are boxed and in two pod units in my front yard getting ready for a move. don't worry yarn mamma has the right address for me this should be real fun. My daughter decided she wanted to make the yoyos instead of me but still add them to the afghan

I love it! Thanks for showing us Sunshine! What an inspiration. I know that yoyos are actually hand quilting. They have been made for many generations, probably because you only need a small piece of fabric and needle and thread. My problem with the yoyos that close together is I can't square it up...but I did enjoy putting the ones together...I'll get it out for a pic.

...when I did that it was 6 sides around one yoyo...it got confusing to me but Sunshine is an artist, she is extra talented. I noticed the colors she used to make a design...very nice!

Thanks Wendy! That makes it very clear on how you attached them. Now, would you attach the finished top to a fabric base? Or would you let it be "lacy"? Would it hold up ok with daily use if used as a bed topper?

I know what your saying Linda. I think that sometimes the hardest part is mailing them. I work full time and do not get into town till past 6pm most nights. And the post office by me closes early now on Saturdays. Its not far, its just that little extra trip I have to make. Most of the time I try to go on lunch. But lately that post offices is so busy. 10 - 15 people on line.
I am hosting a family get-to-gether this weekend and so I am going to try and mail them next week from work.

Hi all - I wasn't part of the yo-you swap, actually I'm new to yo-yo's and was wondering if it mattered what type of fabric you used?
Poly cottons, all cottons, lightweight denims, velveteens ... has anyone ever tried different fabric weights and what were the results?
Thanks. |

I am new at Yo-yo. I have only ever used cotton fabric. But I have see linen and silks used too. I guess you will just have to make a few with different fabrics to see how they hold up.

Mine are ready to go out in the mail....alas it will have to wait till Thursday as I left them on the dining room table and left for a long Labor Day weekend with the Hubby. We are taking our "Glamper" out for her maiden voyage. Here I sit waiting for the coffee to percolate typing away in my vintage camper, so strange, isnt the internet wonderful!

Kathy, Thanks for the yo yo's. They came in the mail just after I mailed mine. The postal clerk said the weight was O.K. but they needed the .64 since they wouldn't fit through the machine. I laughed when I came home and could see that your envelope was rather mangled even with the .64 stamp on it. Looked like it was sent through the machine;) Hopefully they all make it safe to everyone. I thought I had 50 yo yo's but when I finished sealing mine up I had one left. I am almost positive each envelope had 5 yo yo's in but if anyone got 4 please let me know and I will send you another one. I think I may have just made one too many. Anyone want to share ideas of what you are making with yours? I know there have been some fun ideas already shared. I saw a free Dragon pattern online somewhere that looked kind of fun. It was the type like the old fashioned clowns and animals with body, arms, and legs from yo yo's. I also saw a cute Frankenstein pattern and a witch pattern in a store but when I went back in they were gone. It's fun deciding what to do with Halloween yo yo's. Maybe Linda will host a Christmas yo yo swap since I really like the idea of using them on the tree for ornaments. I would love to have a tree decorated by my farmgirl friends and could use some new decorations for my tree. How about it Linda? Thanks for doing a great job hosting this swap!
