This is just a cute chicken story. I've had a problem with a fox and Sunday while I was at work my husband noticed "something" had a chicken. Well he scared it enough that it dropped the chick but she was injured. When they are hurt they spend a few days in the coop kinda healing them selves. Here is the neat thing. This chick is about 16 weeks and there are 5 of them. Every time the injured chick would go out inthe yard, the other chicks her age would gather around her and kind of protect her. They would scratch the ground so she can peck and when I throw scraps they let her get them. I had always been told if a chick has blood on it they others would peck it to death, but this was just the opposite. They really were concerned about her. I doon't have a lot of people to share this story with but I thought it was just a great example how God's creatures take care of each other, Take good care

What a wonderful story...you hear of it all the time, how animals will help their "animal friends" and family members. Mother Nature is incredible!

Carol, that is so sweet. I have not had anything like that happen here. Mine would have just killed her. Now the guineas would probably do that. But not my mean ole chickens. That's so neat, though. Chickenly love, for sure.
How is she now?

SHe is doing well, Kristin, almost back to normal. She's back to being outside all the time. Even though I know better than to name them, we call her Tarzan cuz she is forever trying to roost in the trees. True Blue, I had always heard they would kill the hurt one and I was so happy abput this outcome.
