If I were stranded on a desert island....my first food choices would be a really good extra virgin olive oil, some basil, some garlic and angel hair pasta. HEAVEN!!
I even make soap with virgin olive oil, not the cheap stuff either! as it is so good for your skin and when I cook I use virgin olive oil with or on just about anything and everything.
GOOD Olive oil is GOOD for you!!

Melody- I would bring the FETA Cheese, tomatoes and Italian bread. : ) I LOVE olive oil...I honestly think that is why I have half way decent skin. Growing up Italian, that is all we used.

I love EVOO! I would choose italian bread, fresh garden tomatoes, olive oil and basil...mozzarella cheese if I could add one more...I could get by pretty well on that!!! I am not italian, but I get asked if I am alot..I look either italian or greek I am told...I am neither. Nearly everything else though.

I love EVOO too! I cook with it on a daily basis and I make my own salad dressings with it too. I can't imagine my kitchen without it.

I never had olive oil growing up in Ohio (but we did have a bottle in the medicine cabinet, for the rabbit's ears) but I lived in Spain for a year and it really opened my eyes to the possibilities of olive oil.
There are people who are connoisseurs of olive oil just like connoiseurs of wine varieties. I hear there is a store in NYC that sells nothing but.

i am so happy to know there are other evoo addicts out there...your suggestions regarding desert island provisions had me nodding in agreement...melody..your soap sounds delightful...and i, too, use olive oil in all my cooking and most of my baking...i rarely use butter anymore.
how else do you guys use olive oil?
