I have some things that have just taken off like crazy, and are overshadowing other things so I'd like to move them around.

Thing is, some are in bloom or just about to. Can I maneuver them around right now, or is it best to wait till autumn?

Yes! That's the great thing about perennials. If you get them moved or separated now they will have plenty of time to get their roots in the ground real good before winter. Some of the blooms will probably fall off but they may bloom back out after you get them moved. It just depends on what it is. Hope this helps! Tammy

It sure does, thanks, Tammy! I keep looking at them, and then I think, "well, maybe I'll kill them?" but it's good to know they adapt to change well. I have some separating and moving to do, then!!!

Jonni:
Glad you asked that question. I would like to more some of my perennials, too.

This year has been so crazy around here, Marly--we've had so much rain, and last year, at the end of the season, I hit a couple of bargain bins at our local nursery and for .50 got these two really sickly looking yarrow plants and thought, "well, what the heck!?" And I planted them and OH MY GOODNESS!!!! They'r huge (about waist high, and I'm 5' 3") and gorgeous, but um, just in the wrong place!

I also wanted to split and move the highway tigerlily's down to the lower portion of our yard to start making that look more hospitable. Tomorrow's project!!!

Good luck Jonni. I'm always moving perennials. And yarrow... that stuff will take over. I've moved stuff right up to November 7th around here!

It surely does, Dawn. It's tri-colored and sooo pretty, though. It reminds me of fruitloops! But, it's on the front walkway, and with the heavy rains we've had, has taken a pretty good beating so it's getting walked on. I think moving it back towards the physical porch is a much better solution.

I move my perennials around down here to. I have a question for anyone! About a month ago I planted some plants that I bought at a nursery. There called Doubaled Angel trumpants I have some purple and white and yellow and orange. There just starting to bloom. I was wondering how fast if at all they multiply. Any ideas?

Angel's Trumpet (Burgmansi or Datura) is actually a shrub that is generally trained into a tree. I don't think they multiply. Did you know that the flowers and seeds are poisonous if eaten. Just a warning. They are beautiful though. MB

MaryBeth, Oh my gosh, thanks for the warning. I saw a picture of them and wanted it. Thinking back to the pic it was in a large container and kind of like a tree. Thanks alot. It's so great to talk to other people who can give you some of their knowledge.
