Wow! I cam home to a pea explosion! My pea plants are about thigh high on me (I am only 5 foot tall) but they were only barely ankle height when I left!!

Gee Alee, how long were you gone? (he..he..he..!!)
Seems to happen when we aren't looking huh? Just like with our kids. One minute they're newborns, the next, they're taller than WE are!!! (At least MINE are! I know your little one has a ways to go yet) --- Enjoy those peas! ~~~ Tracy

Well, I was gone for almost a full month. I got to eat some baby pea pods today while I pulled weeds. When do you know when to really start harvesting? the peas inside the pods were just barely nubs...

They mature quickly, so you have to check them every day and just pick them when they are big enough.

Thanks Teresa Sue! What would you say is big enough? I always seem to miss that magical moment and they are either immature or woody :( I have 3 rows of peas this year and am hoping to be able to freeze some. But I don't want to freeze woody peas.
