I thought I'd share a tip we do at my home when it comes to food storage in the refrigerator because it makes cleaning so much easier. My DH actually came up with the idea. Those 20 yrs. of military service paid off big time in the organization dept. We keep many of our condiments in plastic tote bins that are easily removed from the fridge and speeds cleaning time enormously. When I clean I just remove a bin at a time, empty it and check expiration dates, wash the bin out and replace bottles, jars, etc. Wipe the shelf and replace the bin. I've found this saves greatly on electricity and protects food from spoilage on warm days because I'm not standing there with the refrigerator door hanging open while I clean. Cleaning the fridge is now done quickly because the shelves remain clean and this is no longer a dreaded task. Hope this helps someone!

Good idea. I hate cleaning the refrig, especially taking out the food that's been in there a while. Gross!

I agree, great idea! I hate cleaning the refrigerator, so any tips on making that necessary job easier is most welcome!

That is a good idea! Thank you Cheryl:)

I recently cleaned our fridge. Let's just say that we are in NEED of a new one. I was finding it discouraging whenever it was time to clean. So, here's what I did:

~I took some lace ribbon and glued it to the ends of the shelves and along the shelves on the door. I also took some vintage buttons I had and glued them on the lace too.
~I am using doilies in the fridge and keeping a little vase with flowers in the fridge too
~I placed baking soda in a cute little tea cup

So now whenever I open the door to my fridge I smile. It cheers me up

I like the bin idea. I have a 1941 GE refrigerator (it's just me and my German Shepherd). When I can, I like to pick up enamel refrigerator drawers to keep meat and veggies organized, and it also keeps the fridge cleaner. I need to hunt thru & find something suitable for condiments.

Oh Cheryl, I just knew I could not be the only one married to a man like that. They had mine for 22 years and he's been out for 15 and still folds his underware into 6 inch squares. He will not allow me to do his ironing or folding. Now you know that just breaks my heart. LOL I was only in for 10 years so it did not rub off on me or maybe my spirit was just to free. I really like your idea though.

LOL Melody aren't military men something? Hubby does all the ironing here too cuz of course I don't do it as well as he does. It's the truth too. He can spit shine a bathroom like nobodies business. The man does not know how to rest. He goes and goes. I am a pampered queen who is spoiled rotten with a husband who cooks like a chef, irons like a pro, does bathrooms AND WINDOWS! I have fibromyalgia and I can't tell you what a huge help to me he is, Bless his heart. :)
