I'm a bit frustrated...when I was 4 months pregnant with Violet, I strained the muscles around the leftside of my uterus, effectively crippling myself for a few days with extreme pain in the abdomen. The doc said that it happens when you're "doing too much" and on that particular day, I was painting the living room and then Hurricane Ike came through Kentucky and scared our 115lb German Shepherd to death and I spent an entire evening trying to keep her contained. So, the next day, I could totally see how I might have injured myself.

But, on Saturday night, I pulled our car seat (which, admittedly, is awkward and heavy) wrong, and torked my muscle there, again, in exactly the same spot, resulting in no sleep for 2 days and pain that 800 miligram tylenol doesn't buffer. How was I doing "too much" this time? And, without the added pressure of a baby stretching my uterus, allowing the muscles to rupture more easily.

Violet came by c-section, so I am thinking that my muscles just aren't quite healed yet? Otherwise, I am just one weak girl...

I bet your muscles are not fully healed. I have not had a C-section, but I have learned that pregnancy puts a surprising strain on our bodies, in which it takes a bit to recover. Maybe I should listen to my own advice considering I am now pregnant with my third in three years, but, what can you do...
You’re not a weenie! I hope you feel better.

I pulled the left side too when I was about 5 months pregnant with my first moping the kitchen floor. I also had a c-section but got pregnant 5 1/2 months later. I too had weak muscles and had to watch myself although my second pregnancy with my daughter. My advise is to talk with your doctor and see what type of exercise might help to strengthen those muscles. It will help you a lot.

Thanks so much C.W. and Madelyn...funny, Madelyn, it's that left side for me, too! I guess that's the side I favor since I'm a lefty. Don't know, but I think that's a great suggestion. I'll ask my doc about it--my husband suggested that I might do some exercises, but I didn't like his suggestion. It was like he was saying I was fat (even though he wasn't)

Hi Jonni,
I did that when I was carrying my children. It is a wicked kind of painful too. Violet is only four months old and it takes a good two years for the muscles in your tummy to recover from a csection. You could easily pull muscles in your tummy at this point by bending over wrong. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot you can do for pulled muscles. Warm heating pads, warm baths, put your feet up and relax :D

hugs

It sure is, Jessie (painful!). I guess it will take a bit of time after the surgery to heal, then. I don't feel bad, until I feel bad!! That's what is so bothersome, is that there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. A hundred times I lift that car seat out of the car, but that time, I guess I just moved wrong while doing it.

I have been doing the warm heating pad, and it does help some. I feel a bit better than I did yesterday, so that's positive!

Thanks girls...always an answer here!

I had a c-section with both of my girls. And my DD had a c-section with both of her boys, and we both had that pain. our Drs told us it was adheasions(sp) where you are healthing and sometimes they tear a little. But I agree, I would ask my Dr. They are no fum.

Blessings,
Tina

Give that sweet baby a hug from Nana Tina. I hope my DD has a girl this time.
But would take a healthy boy too!!

I pulled a tendon I think they called it when I was pregnant. It hurt for a while. I had a c-section also and have found its really easy to strain those muscles. The Dr even told me that women with c-sects have more problems than normal.

I hope you feel better!

Ouch. I would watch that really. I've not had a C-section but I did end up with an umbelical hernia after my 2nd baby. If the pain doesn't go away I would ask for a CT scan to check it out!

I did that two. I pulled mine with my first had a c-section and then proceeded to do it two more times with the next two and had c-sections with all three. Back in those days Drs. didn't do much to help. I learned to sleep with a pretty flat pillow under my stomach. It supported the baby's weight and helped with the pain. After I let it heal good following the third c-section I haven't had any trouble since. I have horses and work for a rescue so I am slinging hay bales and carrying feed bags and mucking stalls etc. No problem once it healed.
