Lainey went in at 8:00 this morning for Pre-Op. They didn't start her actual surgery until 9:00. Even though she wasn't happy about being there this morning, her sweet Hubby said that the Drs called and said she is doing fine and should be done in about 2 hours. So that would around 2:30 Kentucky time :D
Please keep her and Hubby in prayers today!!

I just talked to Lainey's husband again and he said that they took the esophageus out and are now putting things back in the way they are supposed to go. It is still a 1-2 hour stretch until its all over, but her Hubby said the nurse told him SHE WAS DOING GREAT!!

I'm soooo glad to hear that, Jessie. I'm assuming she's at UK's hospitals. She should be coming right around in recovery about now.

She has an hour to two hours to get yet. They told her hubby two hours earlier but when I talked to him just a bit ago, he said yet another hour or two hours. Waiting at the hospital can be brutal. Her Hubby is in good spirit about the whole thing though :)

Oh...bummer. You're right, though, sitting at the hospital can really take its toll. But, Lainey's really getting the brunt of the visit  Will continue on with the good thoughts through the weekend!!

LAINEY IS OUT OF SURGERY AND DOING FINE!!! YAY!!! :D
just got out of surgery
they are going to try to remove the ventilator and move her to icu
her hubby hasnt been able to see her yet, but the DRs told him he may be able to in an hour or so.
I am so excited for her that everything went so well. However this is only the beginning to a very long recovery.

That is an awesome idea, Annika!Let me know if you'd like to head it up or you want me to, and Ill see what we can come up with.
She had plans to taker laptop with her to the hospital and she told me they have WIFI so don't be surprised if before too long, you hear from Lainey herself...lol!
That's what I call some good old fashioned farmgirl spirit!!:D

Jessie, if you could it would be nice, I'm swamped doing things on the farm and don't want to mess it up for her by being too busy to keep up with it. Lainey deserves the best of our love and support, especially now. *HUG* Thank you for offering to take it on. I'm sure there will be a lot of people wanting to write her. She's a pretty dear farmgirl to many here.
Let me know what you come up with!
She sure does have the spirit! doesn't she? can't wait to hear from her!

I'm so glad that Lainey's surgery went well. I will be praying for a strong recovery with minimal stress. Farmgirls are fighters!(God bless 'em)

What a day for Lainey. I am so glad she made it through and is on the road to recovery. Thanks, Jessie, for all the updates on her. Do you know what all the doctors had to do for her?
And where would we send cards to, hospital or her home? Silly question. I guess her home and her hubby can bring them to her. Do they know how long she'll be in?

Hi Kris,
I am not positive of the whole procedure. I have only heard bits and pieces from Fredrik and from Lainey ahead of time. I know that it was very invasive and extensive. They removed (but I dont know if they put back) her esophagus and then had to reattach her stomach to something...sorry I wish I knew exactly, but this is only what I have been getting a little at a time ;)
Her recovery period is 6 weeks. I believe all of that time she will be on a feeding tube. I do not know yet, when she will come home, but I am sure that it won't be soon enough for her!! :) She was very anxious about her recovery period.
The address I have for her is for home and know that she has animals and such, so I would imagine that her Hubby is going home to tend to them. He has time off during this time too, so he can be with her.

Jessie, you've done a bang up job keeping us all updated. Thank you very much. I've sent many prayers Lainey's way. It sounds like the hard part is behind her and now begins the long part-recovery.
I will email you to get her address to send her a card.
Thanks again for being such a special farmgirl sister to keep us in the "know" as much as possible.

Hi Girls,
I heard from Fredrik earlier today and he said that Lainey was doing well and was able to come off of the respirator. She is waiting for a bed to open up in ICU as of 11:00 last night.
Sorry I haven't posted earlier today, I was out and just now able to get back to check my messages.
Keep the prayers headed her way. She is doing great and now for her big recovery!! :D
