with an older dresser. I found an old dresser that is supposed to have four drawers but there are only three left. I was wondering what kind of projects you girls would suggest.
I thought about just using the drawers to maybe make a planter or store yarn in. The drawers are about 18-24 inches wide (I have to measure to be sure) What do you think?

How about placing a basket in the empty spot to store some things.
You can tell your dog all of your secrets and they'll never say a word!

I really like the idea of using it for something in the garden....can you refit it as sort of a Potting Bench? Use the space where the drawer is missing to store terra cotta pots and coordinating trays or smaller stackable items like the plastic pots that plants come in? You could put all your gloves, garden aprons and tools in one drawer, plant stakes, twine, etc. in another and seed packets and stuff in the next with drawer organizers and labels and things like that. Gah. I'm a total nerd.
You could even put a piece of zinc or other flat metal on the top so when you're working with wet plants and watering seed trays, it won't warp or rot the wood.
Sorry, I've put a lot of thought into this concept because I'm doing one similarly to an old kitchen table :)

I had an end table that had 2 drawers and was supposed to have 3..I made a planter out of it...I took the bottom out of the middle drawer and filled the bottom one with dirt. It is pulled out so the plant grows from the bottom to the middle and the top has no drawer. I have a prayer plant in it now...it is beautiful

We use an old dresser, repainted, with the legs taken off and the top two drawers out as a TV stand in our bedroom with each "shelf" as a spot for the cable box and the DVD player. The extra drawers are being used as under bed storage bins. We also cut holes in the back for the cords to go through.

Put wheels on the drawers and use them under beds or to put toys in, easy to move.
Install shelves into the dresser part, cover with pretty material, hide fold away clothes in there or games.

I have an old dresser I tucked against a corner in the carport. My five outside cats have completely taken it over. They sleep in the drawers, play in it, etc... Just an idea.

I am laughing so loud right now!!!!!!! Not at you, please know that, but I had a 52 lb. lab that would crawl on the top shelf to try to sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More than half of her body was hanging out, and she never did get to take a nap on the shelf because she spent her time trying to stay inside the shelf. Often, one of the cats trying to sleep on the lower shelves would tag her with their claws. I guess they were telling her to be still!!!!!!!!!

I have an old dresser that I use as a gift wrapping center. I have wrapping papers, ribbon, tape, etc. in the top two drawers and gifts in the larger bottom drawer. I buy items that I find on sale in advance for a particular person or just a wonderful item that I'm sure I can find a recipient for.
This dresser is sentimental to me, since it belonged to my Grandma. However, it's a bit delicate, so it can't take a lot of weight in the drawers. Using it for wrapping supplies works perfectly.

Now I am laughing Did you ever take any pictures of her? I bet the cats were quite disturbed :)
Our dog is an Flat Coated Retriever and thinks she is little. My husband was playing with her one day (in the house) she was running and jumped into my lap while I was knitting! She nearly knocked the wind out of me :) She's my girl though and I love her :)

Cut a hole in the top to accomodate a deep bowl. Have a pitcher on a saucer next to it and just move the 3 drawers down. Instant dry tub.

This dresser is actually a tall one and I'm short () so I don't think it would work here. I appreciate the suggestion though:)
I think with everyone's input we could come up with a book titled 101 uses for an old dresser. So many wonderful ideas ladies!

| I used an old dresser for a raised bed, took off the back, added potting soil and planted potatoes, it worked great. The drawers had been ruined by mice and went into the burn pile. Good luck |

My dad made a tv cabinet out of one. He left the bottom drawers and took out the top two. He then made two cabinet doors to fit where the empty space was. It looks awesome!
