I'm reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers right now, and I also purchased a book by Deeanne Gist called A Bride Most Begrudging.
I am new to the Christian fiction (well I have read a couple of the Amish books) and was wondering if you can have any favorites you can recommend for me please? I love Redeeming Love so far!! And can't wait to read the other one I bought.

Neta Jackson is a contemporary Christian author, I love her "Yada Yada Prayer Group" series.

Oh, I second Grace Livingston Hill. I'm not Christian and still love (love!) her books. They are so sweet and pure-hearted. I just finished rereading 'The Enchanted Barn' for the umpteenth time today, love love love it. The ultimate farmgirl book- about a family moving out to make a home in an old stone barn! My other fav is 'Re-Creations'.

Francine Rivers is wonderful! I enjoy Robin Lee Hatcher, Deeanne Gist, Jane Kirkpatrick, Cathy Marie Hake, Denise Hunter, Sharlene MacLaren, Tracie Petersen, & Kim Vogel Sawyer, to name a few!
I really enjoy the historical Christian fiction stories.

I have to recomend In Search of Eden by Linda Nichols. It's a very sweet story. She's a good writer but i haven't found anything else she has writen if she has. Me personally i enjoy historical bible fiction. I would like to try some of the newer christian fictions but haven't been sure where to start.

I love the Mitford books. A fun, easy read, with a clear gospel message.
For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

In a little different vein the Philip Gulley books are really good - Phillip Gulley is a quaker minister who has written some fiction and some essays. I really like the messages in his essays, and his fiction, also about a quaker minister, is hilarious. My mom is a minister and some of the situations in his books, for instance trying to get a bathroom remodeled, really strike a chord.

Yes, I do work at a public library! It's such an interesting job, and you can imagine, I see soooo many great books I want to read, but just don't have the time to read them all!
Ours is a smaller library system, so I get to do many different jobs; I look after interlibrary loans, but I also get to do circulation, cataloging, collection development, processing, weeding, displays, etc.
There are so many great websites to help you discover new authors, too. Another good free one I use for readers' advisory is www.readersadvice.com ; here is the link to check out their Christian Historical Fiction listings:

and this site, http://www.faithfulreader.com/index.asp ,is another great resource. You can sign up for a monthly newsletter from them, to stay informed about new books, recommendations, etc.

 Yes, it's a lot of fun, and you learn something new every day!
There are so many other great Christian historical authors out there, like Wanda Brunstetter, Cindy Woodsmall, Kim Vogel Sawyer, Jan Watson, Lauraine Snelling, Beverly Lewis, Janette Oke, Sharlene MacLaren, & Tamera Alexander, to name a few.
That's what's great about the other websites I listed before--you can find out about upcoming releases, new authors, etc. and discover many authors you might not have heard of. If your library does not have these authors in their collection, just ask if they can do an interlibrary loan for you. Libraries lend to other libraries all the time! It's a service many people don't know exists.

The Enchanted Barn by Grace L Hill is my favorite book of hers. I could read it over and over, too. I love all her books and have alot of them. They are so easy to read and I just can't put them down once I get started on them. Love her. It just makes me want to live way back then. Her daughter wrote some books, too, didn't she?
I also like Janette Oakes, too.

I am reading Charlotte Hubbard alot lately....the Angels of Mercy series. I started by reading A Patchwork Family and didn't know it was a series....now I am reading the third book..they have really really been good. I think there are 4 out so far and two or three more planned in the series.

I like Lynn Austin, and am reading one now by Lori Wick. I jump around to many Christian authors, and really like the ones that feature multiple stories about individual states in the olde days.
I am getting hooked on Christian fiction, and like it more and more as a way to relax and enjoy reading without having to read foul language and mentally picture terrble things.

The Thoene's are some of my very favorite historical Christian fiction authors. They have so many wonderful series to pick from. You can't go wrong there! I love learning history through fiction. So if you're into that, check them out for sure!

Okay, girls. I just finally finished reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers and I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED it. I have to honestly say it's one of the best books I've ever read, and that's saying a lot. I have been reading my entire life. Oh man it was good!!! I wish I could find another book similar to this one!!!

I see a book that is about cowgirls and cowboys. It's called The Reluctant Cowgirl by Christine Lynxwiler. Has anyone read this one? I like the ones about the cowgirls and cowboys.
