I have been waiting to hear if I got a job with the Census Bureau and nothing...I took the test and only missed one plus I've 'done' the census twice already ('89 and '99) plus ran my own crew and just knew they would want me. Just knew it!!

So finally I called today to find out what is taking so long and the lady said everyone had been chosen already! I sputtered out why didn't they pick me (sounds like a little child, huh?) and she said they had so many high scores, the sole criteria at this time, and had to pick and choose, no real reason. I just didn't get picked.

Bummed...hubby told me that it'll all be okay but right now, I'm kind of crushed. Not much, but down nonetheless. The lady said that some people will wash out for one reason or the other and maybe I'll get picked for that. Still...

Just had to vent...thankful that I have this site to 'talk' to...

Winona,

I am so sorry that this didn't work out for you. Who knows, maybe some people will flake out and you can get your foot in the door :) Hang in there. I will be praying for the Lord to give you the perfect job and to encourage you in the meantime. Listen to your honey

I checked out your cooking blog. Fun! I have a Baking Spice recipe if you would like. I use it in quick breads, pumpkin pie, pancakes, fudge, etc, It's really good :)

Thank you for the kind words! As for the Baking Spice, you betcha!! I can use all the help I can get!! hehehe... My email for the blog is horseinfoperson@yahoo.com. I did the horse blog first then started the cooking one. I can't keep up with all the emails so the blog one is the same.

Winona ;-)

Winona..one of my Washington Stare friends took the test and it went basically the same for her (although her score and experience was very high, also). They told her that just so very many people applied.
Good luck.

Thanks again, all. Actually, ranchetta, just knowing I'm not in the boat alone makes me feel a bit better. I'm sorry your friend wasn't chosen but at least we know we're in good company!

I called the number provided and left a message that I wanted to apply and never heard anything, so I didn't even get to take the test. I was bummed too!

Calico...hmmm...don't know why it came back. I've noticed lately, the emails have gone down a lot. Must be some sort of problem which I'll check. Anyway, I'll check the other page and thanks!!

Winona, sorry it didn't work out. I had trouble getting through to the Census Bureau in my area, and by the time I finally spoke to someone, they told me that the one test in my area was happening that afternoon! My friend took it, but I wasn't able to. Haven't heard yet if she got the job. They told me that they will be testing again in the fall (here, at least) so maybe you can get in on it later.

I know how you feel though, having worked for them before. I had to leave my job as an assistant manager for a big chain store when my husband graduated from school. In my new area, I applied at the same company and never even got a call for an interview. How about that? I did good work for one location for 4 years, and the other location doesn't even want me in a lower position? It feels lousy, even though to them it's no big deal.

Hugs Winona!! I know exactly what that feels like. There has to be the perfect job out there for all of us. The waiting is the hard part, but it has to be worth it!!;)
