We got a cheapo incubator ($20) to experiment with and put a few of our silkie eggs in it (with 3 roosters and 2 hens, we figured just about every egg was fertilized :) ) So. . .now, 21 days later, we have one hatching!! It is soooooooo cool! My 4 year old has spent over an hour watching the progress! Fun fun fun!

Well 2 of the 3 eggs hatched and everyone really enjoyed seeing it all! The one chick took like 20 hours to hatch completely out and the other took like 2 hours! :) after eating and drinking and sleeping they both look great! What fun! I think I'll pop some more eggs in!

Sheila, that is so fun to watch. And they do seem to take forever to get completely out. How fun for the kids to see that. What kind are they?

I just put 5 eggs under a broody hen yesterday. She looks like she'll be a good mom. In 21 days we should have some, too.

Have fun with them. Kris
