"In their push to convince people that they are protecting us from foodborne illnesses the federal government is moving to allow irradiation of more food items. Meat and leafy vegetables are in that growing list. First, consumers should know that the FDA has said that the word “pasteurization” is an acceptable substitute for “irradiation. Second, the package label required when food is irradiated includes the international symbol for irradiation of foods, called the “radura”.

Does this worry others or just me? Please visit the link below.

Oh my gosh! That just freaks me out. I think I just mentally doubled my garden this year and will be putting up as much food as I can. If ever I felt the need to get out of the corporate food chain- now is it! I want to buy local food that has a face on it- aka I can remember the face of the person the grew/sold it to me! Farmer's markets, home grown, and from trusted sources like Mary Jane! Ugh! Irradiated meat! Yuck yuck yuck! I wonder if it glows when you leave it on the counter (Okay I know it doesn't but I would still be double checking! LOL)

Another thing to be careful and watch for. I can't believe this craziness.

I'm with you, Rene.

So many things happening and the general public is not aware of it because it's moving so quickly.
