"In their push to convince people that they are protecting us from foodborne illnesses the federal government is moving to allow irradiation of more food items. Second, the package label required when food is irradiated includes the international symbol for irradiation of foods, called the “radura”.

Oh my gosh! That just freaks me out. I think I just mentally doubled my garden this year and will be putting up as much food as I can. If ever I felt the need to get out of the corporate food chain- now is it! I want to buy local food that has a face on it- aka I can remember the face of the person the grew/sold it to me! Farmer's markets, home grown, and from trusted sources like Mary Jane! Ugh! Irradiated meat! Yuck yuck yuck! I wonder if it glows when you leave it on the counter (Okay I know it doesn't but I would still be double checking! LOL)
This is one of those topics that jsut makes me nuts! It seems like there is so much going on right now it is hard to keep track of what "fly to swat" first....
