Thank you, thank you, Deb! I'm so glad you said "There is nothing on their site about that." I thought I was losing it or just overlooking it! I'll keep trying with it...

Wonderful! I was finally able to sign-up! Had to send an email and reset a password I never set to begin with, but I'm there now! And I can't wait to get my seeds and get them planted! I was working in the garden the other day and one little honeybee kept me company, hungry for the marigolds I was planting!

Goodness, if I ever tire of getting excited over the smallest things, like a lonely, little honeybee and seeds, then I may as well never get out of bed!

Oh I so miss growing Sunflowers.....I use to grow the mammoth ones back in Calif.
I would dry the heads & de-seed them & add them to my bird feed.
I planted regular Sunflowers up here last , I was so excited as the grew, and just as the heads would start to open, gosh darn~it,,,the deer would feast on them....it never occured to me to plant them inside my fenced off garden,,,duh! I also grew zucchini outside the fence,,,,that the deer left alone! picky little eaters!
I had great success with Crythimums(sp) and got several variety of bees always visiting the plants....bumbles, mason & honey bees, and yes some yellow-jackets too! uugghh! The Mason Bees are really cool and thanx to Carol up in Marysville, WA., she posted some interesting info on Mason Bees. I really need bees for my small orchard & lavender & other plantings. The sad thing is I have not seen any out yet thanx to this aweful weather we are having(still). But I am keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine & bees. And yes, I will be planting Sunflowers but this time inside my fenced garden! lol!

Just signed up! I think this will be fun. I have always loved bees, as my grandpa, who lived next door to us, raised bees. He built a screened porch for his extracting machine, so we kids could watch without getting in the way. Honey day was always wonderful for us as he gave each of us a chunk of honeycomb to eat as we watched him work. I would love to have bees myself some day.

For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

Oh, Julia, I want to be a beekeeper, too! I read about it online, bought books about it, looked through the local farmer papers for someone nearby who sells queens, even found a mentor, and finally told the hubs about what I wanted to do.

The look he gave me may as well have been a grand piano falling on my head. He said, "You're kidding, right?"

The dream-killer!

Sooo.....

....one day I shall just come home with everything I need and simply do it myself!

I received my seeds a few weeks ago and just planted last Sunday. Thing is the seeds I got were very few and mostly looked to be broken and just shells, so I am thinking I may not get anything. Luckily I planted other sunflowers as well, so not all will be lost - hopefully.

FINALLY received my seeds!!! Most all of them seem to be in good condition. I don't know how well they're going to grow, though, because we've reached true summertime here in Bama with mid-90 degree temps. Guess my growing skills will be put to the test!
