while it is hard to say what I love the most.. I think I have narrowed it down to how much I really love how they have themes. For me it makes it so much easier to find what I am looking for since I keep them like "collector pieces". It seems that every conversation I have these days leads to me saying "Oh I saw that in MaryJanes magazine" ....I also love how other farmgirls are highlighted, and the photos are so amazing, and how unlike some magazines on the shelves, it contains content not just mindless ads. I always walk away learning something new, knowing more about someone, or something or feeling as I have expanded my own purpose and meaning. I feel more equipped somehow to go out and live the life I desire to live and be the person I want to be...while my list of WHY I love it so much can go on and on.. I do think that the fact that the themes of the magazines help me to quickly find the things that I want to share with others is one of the most charished features.. What about you?

No doubt about it it, the MJF magazine is great. I like it because of the lack of all the same ads we see everywhere, and because it has so much REAL content. I just heard that Cottage Living is no longer going to be around. It had gotten smaller and smaller, and there was less in it each time. That is why I praise MJF because the quality, content, and beauty is consistent, and in fact gets better.

I also love it because she allows so many of us to participate along with her, and does not lead from a place of ego.

It is great! Oh, and also I have noticed that all ages respond to it. My daughter loves it too.

I completely agree Rene! Every time I read a MaryJanes Farm magazine I learn something new that will help me become a more health and environmentally conscious person. I think that the issues and themes that are raised in the magazines are very important and are especially relevant to today's reader. I have all of the issues and I re-read them often, discovering something new that I had missed before every time.

Oh, and I really do love how each magazine has a particular theme to it. It makes it easy to remember the information presented and to reference it later on. :)

I love that it is such a content-dense magazine - you actually read it as opposed to looking at pictures. There is no other magazine I have that I re-read as I do MJF, some of my favorite pieces have been those where MaryJane writes about her family and visions of community. Those are things that are being overlooked in our culture as a whole and it is so encouraging to know that I am part of a community that still cares about each other. The only issue I don't have is the premier issue, the others occupy a place on my bookshelf

I love the content, the beautiful photos, and all of the inspiration and ideas that fill this wonderful magazine. One of the other things I love about it is that most all of the ideas can be used by farmgirls and farmgirl wanna bes(like myself). I may not currently be able to raise livestock or keep bees, due to where I live...but I'll be ready when I hopefully have my farm someday!

I haven't seen that many of them, but I loved the ones I did. Such beautiful pictures of things my heart longs for. Blooming flowers, green grass, loving people. It like a look into a place where Id like to be but still from the comfort of where I am at.:)

Oh I got my first issue last week and fell madly in love!!! I love seeing my farmgirl friends from this site featured. I love the theme spread throughout the entire magazine, the ads that promote healthful and helpful items that I just haven't been able to find on my own!!
And most importantly to me the magazine is true to the connection I felt almost three years ago when I picked up the "Idea Book" and came to this site and finally found like minded thinking from wonderful people!!
Can't wait for my next issue!

I love the themes too, the info, the pictures, the graphics, the recipes, the quality, shall I go on?? My sister bought me one last summer and I was hooked! Had to go home and see if there was a website, and what did I find??? A whole new world I fit into perfectly and lots of new friends. I have been so impressed that MaryJane is so here, just one of us, posting on the threads and sharing bits of her life...

I borrowed a copy of a neighbors MJF magazine...looked at it the next day and got hooked. I ordered all the back issues and later sent in a subscription....It is a wonderful magazine! It's kinda like Calamity Jane meets Martha Stewart...ya know?

Thanks a million!

I love the MJF magazines because they are a tangible, full color source of pictures of what's in my heart! ALways inspiring and always gorgeous photography. Since I'm a visual person, the magazine is like a hearty meal for my eyes.

I agree with everything y'all said on this thread and especially this line of Rene's "I feel more equipped somehow to go out and live the life I desire to live and be the person I want to be...." That is what I appreciate most about the magazine and MaryJane's farmgirl movement. To me it is all about empowering women and passing on a vision for women to grasp that the life they were meant to live is full of purpose and beauty and sharing and love. Imagine what this world would be like if all women could fathom their potential and implement it!

I said this in another topic but it is just so true! When my husband gets his magazines, most of the articles and covers get him in an uproar. Potitically charged, financially devestating forecasts make him crabby. What a downer! When I get my magazine (Mary Janes Farm, of course!) it puts me in a wonderful mood! It inspires me, gives me ideas that help my family live a better life, be more organic, healthy, earth friendly and simple, info & suggestions from other farmgirls, stories about inspiring people and makes me feel that "I CAN do that!" when there is something I have yet to try! I am so happy to have found it!

Hugs! Kristi

I died from delight as I saw a quote from me in the back of MJF's latest issue. I really wish I could live the life I truly want to live, but too many obstacles are in the way. Reading this magazine makes me feel good when I'm feeling so bad.

Rene-

I love the themes, as well, for the same reason...it's easier to return back to something that you want to share with someone. My biggest problem is that I always have my nose in something MJ and then wonder, Was that in the magazine, or the Ideabook? Hmmmm, Maybe it was when I was reading Outpost...? I have all the issues except the premier and so it truly does help to have the newer themed issues of the magazine.

I think my favorite thing about the magazine is that it is so balanced. It has crafts, recycle projects, out-doorsy stuff, current events, letters from Sisters, relevent ads, gardening tips (I'm ordering plums from the company mentioned in the latest issue!!), and so much more. I'm an eclectic person so this is really compatible with my personality. I've never been satisfied with magazines that mainly feature recipes, or country living, or just crafts.

I really like the variety of MJ's Farm!!

You know, Carrie, I was just thinking the other day the same thing! That now that the number of magazines is starting to get larger, it is harder to remember exactly which magazine or book I found things in! So here is what I think I am going to do-

Over the course of the next several weeks, I am going to re-read the magazines. I have all but the Premiere, the Christmas one, and this latest one so I should be able to make a pretty decent "index". I am going to see if I can borrow my mom's issue of the Christmas one, and since very few people have the Premiere issue that should bring the Index up to date. I should be able to find one of the current issues at Tractor Supply (I think mine went astray because we moved).

So then once I get the Index done I can just keep it up to date per each magazine. Maybe that will help us remember which place to go look to find the specific article!

I feel the same as many of you. I get so excited when my magazine comes! After a long day, I get ready to lay down and I curl up with it. When I read MJ magazine, or her book ideabook(& as I'm reading through it again today)- it takes me to a place I wish I was, like on a farm, with lots of land, and just doing more of the simpler things in life. I do what I can living in the suburbs, and do little things, but it's not exactly where I want to be. I get comfort in the little things I do have, and I appreciate them greatly. I spend a little time in the garden each day, looking at how much things grew, smelling my herbs and the flowers that are blooming.

These readings are real comforting, and valuable to me, as I have no mom or grandparents to show me these things. I too, get inspired and long to try new things. I am going to make butter in a jar this week!, lol. I've always wanted to do that.

I love reading how the other farm girls make either jams, sew, etc, and when I read some of their blogs, I feel like I'm there with them on their farm. It's great. We had ducks, and I loved eating their eggs, but because we had to move this past march, they were re-homed to a 2 acre farm, to another lady named Connie! I miss them terribly, and we are going to visit them soon.

Someday I'll try making jam and sewing a patchwork quilt.

I love the MaryJane Magazine because it's like a breath of fresh air. I read about real people, not this want-to-be movie stars. There is such great articles. Some of the articles, written by everyday people like me and you, really write great. One of my favorite magazines to read. I so look forward to its arrival.
