Lisa- I think, about the counting, that is up to you!

I think I will give myself that trip as a "Congrats you finished the semester"

That way I can hopefully miss snow falling on the passes as that just scares me in this car.

Alee, that's a perfect way to pat yourself on the back!

I don't think I'll count those two I had. So, today is day 6 and it already seems a little easier. I realized this morning that I didn't have to blow my nose when I got up the past couple days like I have had to do for years. The morning hack is still there. That's the next thing I'd like to see go away. But I feel my body improving already.

Lisa- don't be surprised if the cough stays for a while. You body is in a cleaning phase and I hate to say it- but the gunk in the lungs takes a while to get out. I have had friends that turned over a new leaf and it took maybe 3 months? But afterward they said they had so much more lung function and felt years younger- running up mountains and swimming again.

Three months isn't really all that long. Gaining that much more lung function AND feeling years younger? That's a lot to look forward to.

I'm thinking of you today Lisa...and you Girl.

Let us pray.

This we know: every living thing is yours and returns to you. As we ponder this mystery we give you thanks for the life of Girlie Girl and we now commit her into your loving hands. Gentle God: fragile is your world, delicate are your creatures, and costly is your love which bears and redeems us all.

Holy Creator, give us eyes to see and ears to hear how every living thing speaks to us of your love. Let us be awestruck at your creation and daily sing your praises. Especially, create within us a spirit of gratitude for the life of this beloved pet who has lived among us and given us freely of her love. Even in our sorrow we have cause for joy for we know that all creatures who died on earth shall live again in your new creation. Amen.

This lovely prayer was quoted from: stmargaretschurch.org

Wow, Jamie, that was such a beautiful prayer. I surely appreciate everybody's thoughts and prayers, but I didn't take her down today. The ex refused to give her to me this morning and had his sister send me an email saying that HE'S not ready to give her up yet! He's the one who insisted I make all the arrangements and take her down to the vet. I guess he's now giving her HIS prescription pain meds. I'm at a loss as to what to do here. She really needs to be put out of her misery, but he won't release her now. I hate to be mean, but the next time I see him, I'm going to tell him that when HE'S finally ready, HE can take her down himself. Without a vehicle, I have to bum a ride AND I scheduled the day off at work AND I made the appointment and ended up canceling at the last minute. He makes me so angry. I was all prepared to deal with it today and now it's just going to drag on.

I went to Boise for groceries and supplies anyway. Just got back a little bit ago. And I remain smoke-free!

Lisa, girl I am proud of you for taking this on. Jamie, you too!!!!

I don't know that there is a lot that you can do with the soon to be ex, but the frustration is part of dealing with an mentally unstable person. And it is about control. His supposedly control over you about the dog. He can't control you in other areas now, so he will do whatever he thinks in his mind is "controlling you". Will continue to pray for you and your safety. You know how to watch your back and I am so thankful for the people in your town that are watching it for you as well.
Hugs girl and keep up the amazingly good work!!!!!!

Lisa- I am so sorry to hear that your ex is being so manipulative. I am so glad you aren't with him anymore! *hugs* And you are smoke free! That is just so wonderful I can hardly even describe how happy that makes me!

I finally found that picture I took of you and Felicia! I have no idea why my camera did what it did- but I love the effect!

Wow, Alee. I love that picture. Doesn't Felicia have a beautiful smile? Whatever your camera did, I like it, too.

It didn't even occur to me that he was trying to control/manipulate me with Girl. I didn't really think he'd use our poor suffering dog like that. But, I guess, why not? He's tried everything else including faking suicide! He was pretty mad that it was the police who showed up at the house instead of me. I wasn't about to fall for that one again. I really hate the idea that Girl is going to continue to suffer until he takes care of her but, I am not going to take care of anything for him anymore. You know, I'm trying really hard not to be mean...

Oh Lisa...you are a strong woman. Alee is right I feel....This man is trying to manipulate you for sure. You know, I understand that your not trying to be mean....But what is 'mean' exactly? Is it the act of being 'mean'....or is it the act of being fair and realistic to yoursef?...And by doing those things [fair and realistic]....does this man think you're being mean? hope not to cross a line or seem stiff.

I'm feeling pretty darn good, Jamie! How's it with you?

You're not crossing any line. I appreciate openness. You ask a good question and I guess it's one I'll have to ponder...you could very well be right.

Me too Lisa!! It is amazing. [I still have my moments...don't get me wrong, but they are few! and I can fight them off easily!] I've just ingrained it in my head [with help from all] that picking up a poisonous cigarette again is not an option for me at all.....and it will never happen again!

I have a fear though....my fear has become this overwhelming sense of hunger...I have a hard time feeling full and I want to munch all the time. I'm really worried..It hard to get motivated to go to the gym. I feel like I hate the gym sometimes..I don't know why. I think I'm stressed because I just don't want to gain back what I've lost {I've already gained back a few}... How do I deal with this?? This seems like such a silly thing, why do I worry??

You worry because you've already worked so hard to lose it. Which is understandable. Munching isn't necessarily bad, if you're munching on the right stuff.

Well, so far, I haven't had too much munching. But Oatmeal is very filling especially if you add nuts and fruit and should hold you all morning AND it's good for you. Lunch and dinner usually requires some kind of protein for me to feel full. I eat a lot of fish, including tuna and hard boiled eggs. I suppose you could throw a steak in there every now and then. Club salads fill me up, too, since they have meat and eggs. Oh, and grapes make me feel full for a long time, too.

Jamie- Also drink lots of water! Remember that a lot of times hunger is really thirst! Another thing to do when you start getting the munchies is suck on some hard candy or do some sort of brain exercise (like a brain teaser puzzle). Try and distract yourself.

Remember that if you go work out at the gym or take a run or anything like that- your body will reward you with an endorphin rush that will make you feel like a million bucks! So when you don't want to go work out just think of your rewards!

I'm doing great, Alee! It is getting easier, now. I only think about/crave one a few times a day (mainly when I'm bored or right after supper) but have fought it off and it's getting easier to do that. It doesn't seem to take as much activity as it did before to forget that I even wanted one! And, at work today, I didn't even think about it once until my supervisor asked me how I was doing with it (as she headed out the door to smoke). But it was ok. I didn't feel the slightest urge to go out and join her. And just think...I got to this point in just 11 days!
