Ha! How funny is that? I was just browsing around this morning and here you all are cheering me on already! Cool! And thanks. I've been up since 6 and so far, so good. I know it's not very long yet. But, I have a busy day planned to keep myself occupied. I'm hosting a birthday party/sleepover for 2 of Felicia's friends who's birthdays occur this month but, after they go back to school. Last count, there are 6 girls coming with movies, games and junk food. I'm making the birthday cake and pizza. I have the cream cheese warming up on the counter (for the frosting) and I took the only frozen bread dough I had out of the freezer for the pizza. I hope whole wheat potato crust goes well with sauce, pepperoni and mozzarella!
Anyway, I'll be keeping my hands busy and hopefully, I don't feel the need to keep my mouth busy with a lot of junk food!

Lisa, it sounds like you've got the first day covered. Have you told your Dd what you're doing? Her and her friends could help you along today. Tell everyone else, too. That way you'll have plenty of people holding you up.

Well, the cake is done and frosted and I just finished a bowl of oatmeal because that's what Felicia wanted for breakfast. Now, I want to smoke! I have a bunch of measuring cups and stuff to wash, so I'll go do that, stoke the fire, bring in more wood, vacuum the house and start putting the pizza together and stick it in the fridge til later. If the urge isn't gone by then, I'll go sew something. I'm going to be free of this monkey once and for all!

Oh, good idea, Alee. I'll go cut up some carrots and broccoli and leave them out in a bowl to grab one every now and then.

It's almost 7:30 at night and I'm feeling pretty good about getting through this day without lighting up! Just a few more hours before I'll hit the sack. I don't crave them in my sleep! I had a few moments where I almost took a walk but was wanting to take a walk to buy smokes. So, I stayed put and found something else to do.
But it was really a nice quiet, peaceful day. Until all the girls got here! But they're so much fun. I love listening to them when they're all together. I've missed all of them since they all graduated. I expect tomorrow will be just as peaceful and I hope this gets easier each day instead of harder.

I am sure it will be hard for the first couple days because you will be focusing so much on the change and wanting but not allowing the smoking. But if you can plow through (FARMGIRL COMING THROUGH!!!) you will soon be looking back on this part of your life! *hugs* I absolutely know you can do it!

Remember it will be one day at a time. I am so happy that you have made the first step. Keep it up, it is so worth it. I never smoked but my grand parents did. It's something that was handed down to my older sister (she always thought it was so cool). She just can't quit. I hope that for your daughter she hasn't got the bug. Best of luck and remember we all are rooting for you all the way.

Oh, Julie, I tried the pen thing on one of my past attempts to stop smoking and ended up sucking the ink out of the pen! I don't have any pens right now that I can take the ink out of and I don't want to end up doing that stunt again :o The carrot sticks helped a lot yesterday.
Thanks for all the pats on the back, girls. It really does make me want this even more. I think it would be really hard to live it down if I showed up at the BBB and was back to smoking! I know of a few farmgirls who would kick my butt!
Madelynne, my daughter never even wanted to try it. She has asthma and she knows it would just make it worse. None of her best friends smoke, either. So, no worries there.

Oh, good, I can hardly wait to see her again, too!
It seemed harder today, and I ended up playing games on the computer for a little while. Until that frustrated me enough to want to smoke (I'm not very good). So I made dinner, we ate, I cleaned up, helped Felicia with an essay she's writing and came back on here. I have to admit, I'm thinking about it a lot tonight. The carrots I have don't taste very good and I'm not sure if it's me or what. They taste bitter and almost like they have a chemical taste that I can't get rid of. So, I haven't had very many of those today.
During dinner, we watched "Freedom Writers". Really good movie; I was in tears off and on through most of it. But, I was so into the story, that I didn't even think about smoking during those 2 hours.
In a little while, we'll sit down to watch a movie while I braid Felicia's hair into a bunch of little braids. It's a pain and I'm not so sure I like the look on her but, she likes it and it will keep me busy.
Tomorrow, it's back to work. Our calendar is not a hectic one, so the day should go fairly smoothly.

Lisa, I am sending you so many good thoughts and good wishes your way. I hope you can catch them all. Just hold on tight and you will get through this. And doing all the little braids will really keep you busy. But you made it through the weekend and that was hard. Monday will be all work and you'll be around other people to keep your mind off things.
I will be thinking about you this week. Keep those hands busy!!

Lisa- you are doing great! Keep it up! I know you will beat this! Drink lots of water! You body is fighting itself right now. One half ones to be clean and rid of the smoke, and the other half thinks it needs it! Each day that you are smoke free give the clean half more of an edge so the smoke craving half fights all the harder. Tomorrow will probably be hard too, but I bet after that you will start feeling the craving less. The harder something fights without getting fed- eventually it will wear itself out until it can't fight anymore! :D
