I was thinking about making a bag to warm in the micro. But what can I put in there that will stay warm for a long time? I (silly maybe) have been thinking about rice? But won't that boil??
What other things can I put in one. My back is really killing me, and also my neck and shoulders. It is the flu, I always get this pain when I have a bad case of the flu Took muscle relaxants but they don't help anymore
Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

Marian- Rice will microwave great! Just make sure you put it in an all cotton bag. Synthetic fibers can burn/melt easily in a microwave. The rice won't boil because it is dehydrated, though it will feel a tiny bit moist when you take it out as there is some residual moisture that will be steaming off. I microwave my rice back for about 3 minutes because I like it HOT! They are wonderful! You will become addicted to it!

If you have a mucsle pain or a spot pain use ice. It will numb the pain but only use ice 20 minutes at a time & wrap it in a cloth never directly on the skin. You might try a water bottle or heating pad for the heat,

Buckwheat is good.....and it smells good when it's warm My mother has a little neck pillow filled with birdseed that works nicely too.

If you want something more mobile, those heated sticky pads work well and DO last for a long time.
I don't recommend the ones that have the magnets in them...or whatever the bumpy thingys are, these don't stick as long.
If you go this route, try the sticky pads that are all flat. They adhere to skin very well and stay in place.
I use 2 of these on my neck/shoulders whenever we walk around the fair all day and I have to heft a back pack all day. No radiating pain on my shoulder and no migraine! |

I made one with rice in it and i love it!! I heat it just before going to bed and put it against my back and it just gives me relieve of the pain. Even Elvis loves it, lol. He snuggles up to it too. He lies on my comforter but the warmth radiates enough for him to feel it :)

If it is the flu - I have read that joint pain and back pain is caused from dehydration. Drink lots and lots of water. And use ice. There is nothing like ice to sooth my back pain. Heat just seems to make any swelling in the muscles get worse for me. And the numbness of the ice overrides the pain. But drink a lot!!!!!! Of water, that is.....:)
