On the other thread about dolls some of the ladies have said they would be interested in a doll swap. I have said I would hostess this. the dolls are to be handmade. 14 inches or under. mailed to the person you are to swap with so you would be responsible to mail it. perhaps you could email then and find out if they like primitive or pretty or whatever? I will take sign ups till February 1st and then you will have 6 weeks till the middle of march to mail them. and of course we want to see pictures on this thread of the progress and final projects.
So what does everyone think??!!!!!
So far we have Linda and Kim making bigger ones.
and then...
Beverley and melanie
Janiee
Ann
Lila
monica and dutchy
marcy
Robin
Am I good so far?

this is everyones doll swap so certainly we can change it. The swap belongs to us all. that would be between you and your swap partner so who else would like to make a big doll. I will put you with Linda.

I would love to join this but would want to make the smaller size (14" and under) doll! Thanks for organizing this!

I'm in for a smaller doll (I think my pattern makes an 18", but it's crocheted and I can use a smaller hook)...

I'll wait patiently...
so glad to see we have a few already! Tell us some of your plans! Where will you get a pattern?
I am thinking about making the baby doll that I put on the "let's talk dolls" thread. I will use a graph of some sort and make it about newborn size. It could be bald with bonnet and diaper...what do ya think?

Depending on what my partner wants, I also love to make women dolls with some sculpture, old fashioned long dress and jewelry, hat, shawl.

I've been looking thru patterns and I would up for making a larger doll. I think the swap would be more fun if we were all making the same pattern... that way we could see all the different interpretations?

Well there you go linda, Kim said she would be willing to make a bigger one. I thought we could pick our own patterns or we can all use the one from the http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Recipes-Patterns-Instructions/frannies-dolls.pdf
It is more a primitive and you could enlarge it to make is a bit bigger than it is now.

My sweet dolly pattern says she's 15". Will that qualify for the smaller doll?

Ann, that sure would.
Linda I enlarged that one you had on the other thread and it is really cute but I just enlarged it big enough to fit on one page. But it is cute.
I think that frannie one would be fun to make too so I vote for it. So the people who want a primitive one can make that one. But like I said ask your partners and see what they would want.
Linda you and Kim can partner up since you both want bigger ones and the rest will just have to wait cause I want to see how many we get and then pull them from a hat and mix everyone up... hehehehehehehe

Sounds good to me! I have a prim pattern that I bought a couple of years ago that's similar to Frannie's prim...I may do that one...or I may do Frannie's....decisions, decisions....

Yup, I think the pattern I have is about that size! It's a country/prim type doll...does that work for you?

Ok I took the pattern on frannies and enlarged it on my printer by 300% . It now is the size of an 8 x 11 sheet of paper and I measured it to see just how big that would be and it looks like it will be about 17 total inches when done. Is that too big.? Should I make smaller? I also want to put out there that when I try to make a primitive doll I usually end up making one that looks like it has it sunday best on cause for some reason I just can't seem to bring myself to make one that looks so worn and tattered. Is there anyone that likes that look. A bit on the cutsey side. that way maybe I can swap with someone that likes that type.?? Let me know. The kind with bows in the hair and a nicer face and stuff like that there.

This doll I have from Frannie looks like it is about 16 inch, so that's probably the size you'd want. You did the pattern right I'd say.

Well what does every think about closing this and starting our dolls, it doesn't seem to be getting anyone else? What does everyone think?? Let me know. I was going to let it go till the end of the month but I don't see anyone hoping on board.
