I made some quick and easy homemade soap and I am wondering where to leave it to dry? I recall my Dad always put ours on top of the refrigerator, lol. Any tips?
The top of the refrigerator is actually a good place. The refridgeration unit creates heat and as long as the area isn't enclosed there is usually good circulation. I dry mine on slotted shelves.
I got mine on a wire shelf, underneath a table. I have it in the bathroom. My husband kind of "stuck" the shelf up underneath. I have had it loaded too,and it stays put. Works great.
I have wire shelves in a closet - makes things smell great. Wherever you store it just make sure it has good air circulation until it's completely cured.

Someplace cool, dry and dark. I have a maids entrance in our old Victorian that has steep dark steps I keep my soap there lightly covered (to keep the dust out) with freezer wax and let it cure there for a month or more. Every once in a while rotate your soap so that it dries evenly.
I have shelves and shelves of soap in my shop. For the home soaper, the top of the fridge is where I tell my students to cure their soap. One thing you need to be aware of is that mice LOVE homemade soap. I have had students put their soap in a garage to cure and come back the next day to find bite marks and little brown bits on the soap!!!
I woke up on January 1st and it was 2009. And it's been that way ever since!
