I have three large apothecary jars in my kitchen window..empty now for months. I just can't quite decide what to put in them. My kitchen is red/chrome/black. I am leaning towards vintage curtaions, black and white checkered floors and light cirus walls it's a room in progress). So colorful/eclectic would work, seashells etc..not too much any ideas as to what to do with these things? Maybe they need to get moved to the bathroom...........

I have some and I fill them with Charlie's finds- acorns, rocks, nice twigs, etc. It makes for a nice display. How about soap bars or Christmas balls, but in colors that match the decor? BIG candles are nice too. Balls of twine, string or sewing items. Vintage postcards? Small vintage toys?

I would stuff them with white or red christmas lights. I love mild lighting in the window over the sink. It makes it nice to go into the kitchen and get a drink/snak without having to turn on the overhead lites

All great ideas! I too had thought of good ol' fashioned candies. I fear my 2 and 5 year old would wreak havoc on them though! LOL

I like balls of twine, small vintage toys..cute ideas!!

P.S We also have a jar for my daughters finds! It's an vintage Ball canning jar. I keep it on the fireplace mantel-we call it the nature jar

I have one too, and it is now filled with Christmas decorations. After New Years I need to fill it with something else too, so thanks for this topic, lol.
Keep the ideas coming girlies.

I was just looking at marbles! I'm also thinking vintage die cast metal cars would be fun too..and old primitive clothespins.

I think I sm going to use the large one for wooden yoyos/spinning tops, the middle for marbles, and the small one for a handful of tin toys (a couple of cars and clickers). Thanks for your help ladies this should be fun!!

I keep several apothecary jars fill with herb infused olive oil so that I have some on hand for my home made salve!

Dried herbs, flowers, even old buttons or marbles would look interesting and homey.

I love melody's button idea. I may do that in my own home. May I ask what kind of salve you make to put in your jars?

I have an old style canning jar filled with marbles. You can find them old, or you can go to a dollar store and buy them cheap! Also...I have an old cream jar with shells I've picked up at the beach.

I woke up on January 1st and it was 2009.
And it's been that way ever since!
