Hi to all,
I'm so happy to have found this place. This is my first post and I hope to soon become acquainted with each of you who are regulars here.

I am a 62 yr. old mother of two grown children--a boy and a girl, and a proud grandma of four--3 boys and a girl. I was born and raised in Illinois, but have lived in California, Florida, North Carolina, Michigan, and West Virginia where I owned a 22+ acre farm. Sadly, after 19 years, I had to sell the farm when I married a sweet city guy 7 yrs. ago. My heart will always be in the WV countryside, however, and someday I hope to again live in a home in the country.

Since I now must live in a suburb where farmland is becoming more and more scarce, I care for every critter that shows up in our yard--skunk, squirrels, birds, possum, bunnies, and stray cats. My husband and I are owned by two pets--a small female dog and an ornery, but beautiful male cat who is slightly bigger than the dog.

My hobbies include reading, sewing, writing (I've authored 3 Christian books.), songwriting, painting, crafts, stained glass, and my newest endeavor is to learn how to use a newly purchased scrollsaw. I also collect exercise equipment which I don't use much other than for coat racks or as dust catchers . Housekeeping and hobbies keep me busy enough, but my hips themselves need to get a bit more active as they seem to be spreading out like jam on bread the older I get.

Enough about me. Again, I'm glad to be here.

Hi Marlene,
So glad you made it to Mary Janes. We are all farmgirls at heart and some of us real farm girls. (I'm one of the ones still dreaming of my own farm someday.) ;) I look forward to getting to know you better. Hope you have a blast at MaryJanes learning, sharing, and just having fun!

Yahoo! Another IL farmgirl has joined us! Glad you found us Marlene. I live about 20 minutes or so from Bolingbrook. We have a few IL farmgirls here, but none of us are close enough to really meet up. I think you'll really enjoy it here. This is a great place to share, learn, find support and laugh!

Hey Marlene. Welcome from way down yonder in Ga. You sound like you have a different kind of farm. The wild kind, which is still a farm, right? These guys just don't eat as much. HHMMM... maybe I should trade all mine in for some of yours!

Exercise eq. sure does look much better underneath all that stuff.

Glad your here. Sit a spell and join on in.

It is good to meet you!

That is neat that you care for skunks, possums, and other animals. I would love to hear about your animals.

Hi Marlene, we're glad also that you found us. I'd love to hear more about your books. I just figured out today what to do with my exercise equipment...it moved to the basement. Out of sight, out of mind! Besides, my crafts need more room to grow. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Marlene. Welcome! I come out to Bolingbrook to Bass Pro Shops quite a bit.

We too love West Virginia - that's where my Momma is from. Beautiful country there.

Hope to get to know you better.

City Chick, Bass Pro is my hubby's favorite place. He goes there often. He worked in Chicago until a year ago when he was transferred to Morris, IL, which is in the opposite direction.

It's nice to know there are two others in my area who are on this forum.

To the others who asked about my books & a website... I shut down my website a year ago as it began to take up too much time. I hope to soon have a web page set up with info on the books. Thank you for asking about them.

Annie S,
My husband and I love South Dakota. We traveled through the state on our last two vacations out West. I remember visiting Wall Drugs twice in SD. We love that place for some reason. Lots of photos taken there. We hope to one day move to Wyoming as we also fell in love with that state during our travels. Anyone here from Wyoming?
