Yes, Ft. Campbell is still an active base. I just forgot about it. It is near Hopkinsville.

That would be neat if you do move on up here Heather! Ft. Campbell is very active as well as Ft. Knox. I've been to Ft. Knox when one of my best friend's brother came back from Iraq. Ft. Campbell is home of the 101st Airborne is near TN and a lot of country music singers will perform tribute shows there.

Well, we won't know for absolute sure until March but I am scoping out the lists of potentials. Of course, Texas is on the list and I would stay here first, but Kentucky would be my second choice- never lived there, been there, would like to experience life there. Thanks!!!

Heather if you move to Ft. Campbell (home of the 101th First Airborne) then you'll only be an 45 minutes from me...when I'm at the farm. I know several families who are stationed at Ft. Campbell and they love the area. Let us know as soon as you find out where you will be moving.

Miss Wilma, I hear you on the cleaning out. I made the decision last week that if it isn't nailed downed then it does have the potential to go...my New Year's resolution is "Simplify in 2009". The natives at my house are getting worried also that I'm throwing out their stuff, but if I'm responsible for keeping this place tidy then I have a say....right?

I have one of Luna's santas on the way and I can't wait for the mailman to bring it to my door.

Hi Kathryn! I'm a born and raised KY girl and I love it! I'm about 2-3 hours from Louisville in Scottsville. We were there in Nov. for the NAILE show, and will be there in Feb. for the farm machinery show. Look foward to getting to know ya!

Joy, where in So. KY are you? Scottsville is right on the TN border so I think we may be close!!

Best farm wishes

We are in Columbia...my computer has been down, so I've not been online much lately...so I haven't been checking the forums. Columbia is pretty central, about an hour over the TN line. We've been to Scottsville before; my brother is a Civil War reenactor (I guess I kinda am too) and we were at the reenactment over there.

I thought that I was going to be a transplant KY gal. A company in Louisville was pursuing my husband, and we were responding to the offer... BUT, the owner of the co. insisted that our house in MI sell first - so as to have the whole family together and eliminate the stress of a new position and having a family out of state for my husband. Long story short, our house is still on the market and the Louisville co. had to implement a hiring freeze due the economy. I was looking forward to the adventure and to meeting some fellow MJF girls, but alas, I am still a Michigan gal, moving forward with life as I know it. (Friends and family here keep telling me that they are sorry it didn't work out - but they are selfishly very happy!).

And as much as I would have loved to have you as a Kentucky girl, Ann, I'm sure glad you didn't sell that beautiful house of yours and then get stuck in the middle of a hiring freeze with no where to go. But we're still here waiting if the freeze thaws out! ;)

You girls are so sweet. Truth is, we are freezing in MI - but it is beautiful. Once our contract runs out with the real estate agent (unless we get an offer before that), we will be happy to call our house our home again. That little camper rolled out on 4 camping trips in a 2 month period, but it will be receiving even more TLC before the next season. A fall big bang would be fun!

Reading thru some past posts on this - I've been to Hopkinsville, KY in the past for an ad sales position that I had out of college (another story for another time). The town was quaint and lovely and people were so friendly. Even driving on roads surrounded by corn fields, passer by's would wave. Also visited a church while in town - a positive, memorable experience.

Hey Kayla! I figured we were pretty close! My cousin lives in Columbia, although I haven't been there I know where you're at. Did you come to Dumont Hill? They have alot of neat things there. So good to hear from another farm girl so close!

My brother says we were at Dumont Hill, in May. If you were there, my brother was the blacksmith (actually, if you weren't there, he was still the blacksmith....lol) I think we just dropped him off at that event, and the rest of us went to Bowling Green! We should work out getting together sometime!

Hey Kathryn,
I am in Georgia, but my sister lives in Oldham County. A little town called Lagrange.I visit often.I would love to move there also but you mother-in-law and children and grandchildren all live here. She has taken me to a junk place in Lagrange and everytime I go back I have to go there. Great stuff low prices. sounds like a commercial) Ha Ha. Well if your ever in Athens Ga. Let me know I can show you some good junkin places too.

Another Ky gal here. I'm just south of Lexington in Nicholasville.
I haven't met any of the girls here yet. I just mainly lurk and learn.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30
