Today I'm grateful that the sun is shining, the birds that are visiting my feeders, and that I get to spend the evening with my dear 94 yr young friend :)

I am thankful my hubby got home. I got 7 bags of brussel sprouts in the freezer. I got my fridge cleaned out. I got 20 more bales of hay in the shed. And the sun shone ALL day! Now there is a beautiful full moon. And I am able to wash a few loads of clothes naw that the washer has thawed out!

Today I am thankful for electricity. Many folks out here in the Northeast are still without power due to the ice storm.

Today I am grateful that the ice storm wasn't as bad as predicted, that I have a nice fire going in the fireplace, and for my fleece jammies, big terry robe, and fuzzy slippers.

Today I'm grateful that the roads are cleared enough for me to get out of the house, and that I'll be able to attend my knitting group Christmas party tonight.

A check in the mail and bills that got paid. I flock of quail that are playing in my yard. And for the weather to warm up a bit.

Butterscotch Gems from the Virginia Bakery, a warm cup of coffee, and the realization that my life will be enriched more than I ever thought in little over a month with the birth of our daughter.

What a lovely topic!! I've lots to be grateful for these days. I'm blessed with a wonderful marriage. I'm blessed with a houseful of teens and one tag-along "baby" who keep things lively. I'm blessed to be living out in the country. It's a rainy day, helping slowly to get us out of this drought. My hubby has work and we aren't looking at any lay-off that we know of (amazing how people keep building even in hard times...at least so far, they are building a bank right now!). I get to stay home and be mom, homemaker and farmgirl. I have a grandma I love who taught me the heart of what it is to be a farmgirl..which she managed to be while working a full time nursing job to support her 4 children...I have other family I love, but my MaMa just shines for me. I have lovely smelling hay in the shed to feed my animals. I have a nice warm fire going in the woodstove with a silly corgi dog snoring in front of it (my beagle is roaming the yard, he wants nothing to do with drowsing before a fire LOL). I have a pantry that could easily get us thru a month or two with no shopping needed except fresh milk..and a freezer of venision that will last us until next hunting season even if we had to eat it 4 times a week! A nice cup of hot chocolate beside me as I type and good music on low in the background. Technically all "small things"...but such is the stuff of a real life!! I'm content...especially since I have found a whole forum of potential new farmgirl friends!!!
