Would anyone be interested in doing a crochet-a-long after the first of the year? We would start in January using the following pattern: http://www.countrywomanmagazine.com/2009/DJ09/afghan-craft.asp?RefURL=&KeyCode=&tdate=&PMCode=&OrgURL= Then we could post photos when done.
It's more on the intermediate to advanced level. They are not that big if you use the hook and yarn size given in the pattern.
I thought we could make these together, then donate them to either local crisis pregnancy centers or neonatal/maternity wards at our local hospitals in time for Mother's Day.

YES and double YES!!
I collect Angels so SURE I am in!! But do you mind if I keep it myself? Because sending it over....well YOU know the costs. Will try though and if it is not too heavy I might be willing to send it anyways.
Afterthought: OR I can give it to an elderly lady in my village, that is an idea too!
Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)
Again new creations added, too cute lol Come and check it out!!

Thanks Ladies!!!
Absolutely Marian - Keep it on that side of the pond. And thanks for posting on my new blog. I was so excited to see a comment!
I will post when we officially start (I'm thinking in January to give everyone enough time)...

count me in! I love to crochet and do a lot of baby size items for hospitals/charities now. It's a beautiful pattern.

Angie, I'm mailing her a copy today, but thanks for the offer! I hope this means you will join us, too!

Oh good, wanted to make sure she has one. I think I would like to do this too but I am a very slow crocheter but I think I can manage one in time for Mother's Day. Add me to list.

OK, the good news is if you concentrate on your counting it's pretty easy. I made it row 15 yesterday evening between dinner and about 9 pm.
I wanted to be sure everyone understands the cluster stitch because that's the key to making your angel, so here goes: Step One: Yarn over and pull up a loop, then yarn over and draw through the first two loops only (like you are starting a double crochet). Leave that last loop on your hook (you should have two loops) Step Two: Repeat step one (now you should have three loops on your hook) Step Three: Yarn over and draw up a loop, now yarn over and draw through all five loops on your hook.
It took me a few tries to do this - I had trouble the first few times getting the five loops, and the pattern seemed a bit confusing (at least to me - maybe I've hit brain drain from school LOL).
Other than that, it's pretty simple, all single crochets. You may want to enlarge the pattern on a copier or your scanner. I know I'm going to do that tomorrow at the library.
Anyone else started?

I have my yarn and plan on starting this week. Thank-you for the info on the cluster stitch.

I put on some more rows yesterday, and have most of the bottom of the angel's dress done. I have four more rows to go until I shape her wings. She sure is going to be sweet and cute.

I really like this pattern! I'm shaping her wings this morning while kiddos do independent work for school. She goes together really quick!

I think I'm missing something. I don't have a pattern, so could someone send me one or give me a link to it? I'll be way behind on this. I've got to get on here more often, but work and being sick is getting in the way! :)
