Has anyone seen this show? It's really interesting. They are the food equivalent to MythBusters. They take food myths and do scientific (ish) experiments to prove or disprove them.
I just watched one that dealt with swimming after eating, and whether or not it is possible to eat 6 saltine crackers in less than a minute. It was very entertaining!

They said that while they weren't saying it was completely impossible- they couldn't make it work no matter how hard they tried. Their stipulation was no condiments, water drunk during the test. So just a person and 6 saltines. :D It was pretty funny to watch 3 people try their hardest to eat 6 saltines in a minute.

I only caught one episode of that show. It was very interesting and informative. They said it wasn't necessary to drink 8, 8 ounces of water every day. They dehydrated 3 meals, for 3 types of diets (healthy, junk food, average) and it showed that over half of our needed daily intake of water comes from our food. I forgot what day & time it is on though. I'd like to see what else they come up with.

very interesting
Next time I'm bored I';ll have to try the saltine thing
Speaking of water.... Here's something that could go in the barnyard buddy section.....for those of you who buy canned foods for dogs and cats, the ingrediants are listed by weight, so if water is listed in the first 3-4 ingredients, the food is being cheapened. Same goes for dry food. You want a known meat meal, then the actual meat itself (stay away from unnamed "animl by-product" type listings, as these are the mystery meats and often come in by way of roadkill, organ parts and other less desirable pieces from "other animals" and leavings from slaughter and rendering plants..
Sorry to have digressed |
