Hello Farmgirls!
My mother-in-law gave me a ton of butternut squash and I'd like to freeze it. I've never done this before, and everywhere I look on the net I find some who cook it before freezing (in chunks) and some who don't...they just freeze it (in chunks). Has anyone froze butternut squash before? How did it turn out?
Thanks!! Sheri ![](icons/icon_smile.gif)

I've never froze butternut squash before either. I would think it would probably get very mushy though.I sure hope someone here has, I'd be curious to know if it works.

Thanks everyone for your answers! I thought it made sense to freeze it after I thought about it. I notice Birdseye sells frozen squash and it's cooked...duh. I'm new at being a farmgirl...does it show? ![](icons/icon_smile_big.gif) Guess I'm having butternut squash soup this week....yum.
