I think I might have "blown it" this weekend. my dh asked me to make some curtains and decorations for kitchen, living room and bedroom and make them more "country". I asked him to show me in my books what he was thinking about and after going through my "stash" i could not locate anything even close to what he had picked out! really! so i looked and fabric store was having a big sale so i went there and bought 6 yards of various fabrics (in his style)...am planning on using a lot of muslin with them.....projects planned kitchen curtains and cushions for chairs and wallhanging (maybe 2) curtains for living room, cushions for sofa and rocking chair full size quilt for bed (think with a lot of muslin exsisting curtains might continue to work).....know that sounds like a lot but i am about to be off work for 2 weeks and need projects to do. my dh likes to watch a lot of tv but i just can't sit still that long .... and with add...have to have variety of projects to do. I have over 15 yards of muslin (bought when fabric store going out of business) that i will use with these projects...does it mean i need to start again on my craft fasting? if so, am happy to do so...just want to be sure that we are all on the same "page" ..... love being a farmgirl! janiee farmgirl #390

hi janiee, i am so happy to hear that yoru mom is ok! i woulndt think that buying what your mom wants you to have as christmas gift would coutn but i may be wrong. also it looks to me like you are still "fasting" as you are not buying more than half of your fabric for these decorating projects. you have 15 yds of muslin and only bought 6 yards to add to it. you have much more energy than i do!peace connie in alaska |

So glad your mom is ok, and yes, you are still fasting - what Connie said. And, if you bought it on sale, you were still being farmgirl frugal. If you have a project to do, but don't have the supplies, it's ok to buy the supplies because you will use them. Craft Fasting and Stashaholics is about not buying what you don't really need or will ever use. I know I'm personally guilty of "ooh it's on sale - better stock up" and then whatever was on sale just sits. This past couple weeks, I had to add to my paper stash because we ran out of paper/cardstock we could use for Christmas stuff that the kids have been making on the Cricut. While I stocked up, it's stuff I know we'll use. Some of it is even good for other holidays (red for Valentine's, green for St. Patrick's, etc). It's all about using up what you've got, and only adding to it when necessary.

Hi Teresa! Well, girls, I finished all four Santas and made an apron. I'll take a picture of them soon and post them. I've been busy with one of my dogs - he got loose chasing a deer and got hit by a car and has a broken pelvis - so nursing him back to health - my poor baby. He's taking it like a big boy though. I finished the last two Santas sitting by him on the couch....

I was at my mom's house yesterday and she pulled this beautiful old chalk green tea pitcher out of the cabinet and told me that she just didn't know what to do with it...well, you can guess...I told her to give it to me for Christmas! I would love it and she did!!! so no credit card buying ...helps her keep in her budget ,helps me not to build up my stash! yea! I just love being a farmgirl.. janiee farmgirl #90 |

Aw Thank you Ann. My dogs are my kids, they're so wonderful. So...now I'm on to making a gym bag for my dad for Christmas. I found red fabric and black fabric in my stash, so quilting those together and making him a gym bag - red on the outside(his favorite color) and black on the inside. I'm so proud of myself for using all of my stash for gifts! I forgot to tell you too - I'm made scrapbooking embellishments out of felt(from my stash!) for my nieces, saved some frappucino jars and covered the lids with fabric(from my stash!) to put the embellishments in. They came out so cute! I'll take pictures of those too. So I haven't bought one piece of fabric or stash of anything since I joined Farmgirls! Can't remember when that was.....LOL

My name is Terri, and I am a stashaholic.
I guess I need to sit down, and take stock of what I have. I really want to use what I have.........but the fabric in the store is like pretty shiny objects to a 2 year old. I hear it calling my name.
1st item on the agenda is to organize, so I may see what I have. |

Hi, Terri, and welcome! Check out the Stashaholics 12 Days of Christmas challenge - it may help you to start sorting and organizing and using up what you have.
Lisa - your pieces are awesome as always! So pretty!

Hi everyone! I've been so busy lately, but I had to stop in a say hello to my stashaholic friends! I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
I can't recall how long it's been now since i went to the craft store to buy "stuff". I did go and get tealight cancles for my mom the other day though, but nothing for me. It's soooo hard to resist because they have the cuts=est holiday things...UGHHH. Anyway - I'll keep chuggin' along until I run out of stuff or I snap..lol, whichever comes first! :)

Hmmmmm......I have so much fabric, I wouldn't even know where to begin. I have even got rid of bags and bags of stuff too. I only kept the cotton fabric, got rid of all the synthetics, etc. After Christmas is over, I will be back to tackle this, lol I've decided to make all my Christmas and BD gifts next year, so y'all can help keep me on track! LOL
Sorry to hear about your dog, Lisa, hope he's on the mend.

Thanks Teresa......he's doing very good. Today marks 3 weeks. I tell him every Friday. I finished a sweatshirt last night - I appliqued a santa on a red sweatshirt - it looks so pretty! I'm going to add some colored gems to it(the heat set kind). I really need to get my pictures posted for you guys! Maybe this weekend....yes definitely this weekend....

Just posted photos and descriptions of my 2 latest projects on the Virtual UFO along thread...
The third was another baby blanket done with 2 layers of flannel, each 36" square, just sewn together like a pillow, then turned, pressed and topstitched. Sorry, forgot to get that one on camera.
All of these were made with no additional purchases from either stuff I had in my stash, stuff I acquired through bartering or freecycling, or for the backing of the 2 baby blankets, an old fitted flannel sheet I found in my linen closet.
