I'll post them when I'm done. They are panels you buy. Then sew them and stuff them. Then I embellished them - each one I did different. Can't wait to show you! Almost done with my 3rd one.

Hello My name is janie and I am a stashaholic. I just realized it. I was contacted by a lady with 7 children who wanted to do some charity sewing for Threads of Love (an organization I use to work with) I was able to provide her with over 40 yards of fabric and a box of laces and 3 years worth of old magazines (sew beautiful) and my workroom still looks like a mess. I have 5 tables of beads and beading supplies and books that at the last inventory would take several thousand (gasp gasp) dollars to replace. Yarn and needles overflowing on shelfs and hidden in closets. More quilting materials in boxes in the garage that my dh is wanting to clean out...i need help....i have been crocheting baby items for charity but i avoid my room for the most part. I will admit that it took me awhile to agree to parting of the magazines--i probably have over 2 hundred magazines of different crafts--i have quilted, crochet, knitted, embroidery, decorative painting-beads........i have ADD so I cannot focus on any one item for awhile but I have to confess that what I have is just too much.....I would welcome any ideas and help! janiee farmgirl#390 |

The barter idea is a great one - I was able rehome a bunch of stuff to people who really need it. We also have SWAPs here, so you could actually use up some of what you have to make items for those...
My nephew had ADD, and for him we break tasks up into smaller pieces and use lots and lots of checklists to help keep him on track. You could start with just one box or table. From what you wrote, I would be overwhelmed, and I'm not struggling with an attention issue (unless you count my two kids LOL).
It sounds like you have a good start - keep the momentum going. Even if you just list one item for barter every day for a week, or go through one box, or one table - just one little thing...
You'll get there, and we're all here behind you!

thanks for the ideas , ladies....however, i do not have access to a camera for putting pictures on the form...is that a problem? My other "dumb" question is when you barter...you want something to exchange, right? I don't have any ideas of what to ask for in exchange..... what would you exchange for magazines, and what for yarn, etc.? I am very new to all of this. janiee farmgirl#390 |

Janie, Welcome to farmgirl connection!! We basically trade things! That is all the bartering is! It does help to have pictures of items, but if it's a book you can just list the title! I think we all try to keep it fair when we trade and it could be for anything, just let the ladies know what you are interested in or what you might be looking for! There's really no specific thing to trade for each item! Also you can always ask what someone has to trade for what you are listing! I hope you have a wonderful time here at MJF!

Thanks Lisa! My son has a bunch of Lisa's rehomed stash, too - we like bartering with each other a lot, can you tell?! Your next package is going to the PO today, btw.
Anyway, Janiee, you'll be surprised what some folks have to offer - maybe you'd like something handmade for a gift when you don't have the time to do it yourself... Maybe you need cartridges for your inkjet printer (Lisa and I will both barter for those)... As for the magazines, I did mine 2 ways - one was to list them for $1 each and a little extra for shipping, the other was to send them as a group in exchange for something I wanted. I've been asking for some flannel to start a rag rug project, some green buttons for a Christmas stocking project (see my funny post about that one!), and I've always accepted handmade items because I appreciate how much someone's time and talent is worth. I got the cutest clothespin holder from Aunt Jenny and some artwork, too! Lots of the girls here have blogs or etsy shops. Sometimes they will let you choose an item from what they have listed there. Lisa is really good about that, and thank goodness she can use some of what I've been trying to destash and rehome!
First things first, though. So you need to start going through it all and making some type of inventory. Photos or not, you can list it here, on etsy, on shophomemade.com, on ebay - lots of places. You can create your own shop on etsy and shophomemade as well as create your own free blog on wordpress.com and blogger.
Keep up the good work!

Ann, I am going to try to get your box out Friday! I need to find a bigger box because there is something extra I want to send you and it won't fit in the box I have! So far I have red crochet cotton and I need to dig out some more flannel and I have 2 surprises!!!! Oh how fun it is to trade! I have to tell you that I got a whole trash bag and box of fabric from my dearest friend here in town! I guess I am going to be busy sewing! I got a tag off the Christmas tree at Walmart for a 4 month old boy needing blankets so that will be a fun way to use up some of what I have!!!!!!

I second that, Lisa. Ann is wonderful to barter with, lol (Ann you will get a package soon from me!!)
Ann, I have just sold 3 balls of yarn you sent me! My friend A. loved them and didn't want to have them for free, so I asked a bottom price, lol. She is happy, I am happy.
Anyone that want to barter with me for fabric?? Just asking doesn't hurt, right?? I like to get more fabric and I can barter handmade items for it.
Hugs

hi ladies! sorry for taking so long to respond but I work for a school district and only have access to the email during those hours. My mother (80 years old) has hurt her leg and I have been spending a lot of time with her this last week and am having to take her to the doctor today (after asking her to go for the entire week)...anyway you all have been such a help to me! during my spare moments i have been piling in a box (or2 or 3 or 4) items to barter with and will start making a list of them asap to put on this forum. Also, I had some extra money this weekend and thought about buying some more "stuff"--even went to Michael's and looked at it and everytime I picked something up..i heard in my mine, ok, janiee, do you really need it? remember all that stuff you have at the house? stasholics unite! did not purchase one item. thank you thank you thank you extra money will be for postage when the bartering starts... hugs to all of you! janiee farmgirl #390 |

thanks for the prayers...they did some tests on her yesterday and are scheduling an ultrasound to check her circulation in legs...being the cooperative (cough cough) woman she is, she refused a wheelchair yesterday and walked all over the clinic and today can barely move....i am still collecting items to put up for barter...just started with my farmgirl "stuff" so I pretty much love anything from crochet doilies /coasters to homemade jams, etc. even aprons...borrowed one of my grandmothers from my mom and tried to make a pattern from it and it didn't work out so am going to kinko's at lunch to have one of mj's enlarged.... you gals made me cry yesterday with your good wishes....it has been a long time since i had any "girlfriends" (worked with only men for over 30 years) janiee farmgirl #390 |

Well, the bad news is I bought some crafting supplies... but the GOOD news is BECAUSE I BOTTOMED OUT ON MY USABLE PAPER STASH AND MY RED 4-PLY YARN! WOW what a great feeling! After the 1st of the year, I will be re-organizing the paper stash (the yarn stash now fits quite nicely into 1 medium storage bucket), probably by color instead of by paper, cardstock, doodads, and stamps/adhesives. It just needs an overhaul.
How's everyone else doing?

Ann, Way to go! It really is a good feeling to look at stuff at the store and think I really don't need that and walk on! I have been doing good and I think the only thing I have bought is things I did need to make Christmas cards! I even turned down getting fabric in a swap because I thought " where will I put it! I did get a whole trash bag of fabric from a friend after you sent me some so now I am stocked up, but I am also packing up 3 boxes with fabric to send out and doing 3 baby blankets so it will get used up! And yes one of those boxes is yours with flannel! Please don't give up hope on me, I will get your box out!!!

You can see how worried I am, Monica!![](icons/icon_smile_big.gif)
It really does feel good! To think how overwhelmed I felt back in October and said enough's enough... What a life-changing moment. Wow.
And here we ALL are - 12 pages later - who'd'a'thunk it!
