Right around October 21... Some started a few weeks earlier (without even realizing it)...

Let me know, and I will send you your extraordinary craft-fasting, stashbusting 30 day chip also!

I ran out of stuffing(I can't believe it!), so I do have to buy more because I have 3 more Log Cabin Santa's to stuff that I made for Christmas presents.

That's ok - it's what you are going to use on a current UFO.

oh good.....cause I know I'm going to run out of a certain color thread too and have to get more. but I'm doing good! No "stash fabric"! I'm even doing this in my scrapbooking - no extra stuff for that either - I'm in over my head with embellishments! But using them on the Santa's too...

I know that it's ok to buy yarn, thread, fabric etc to finish a project or a project that's for a gift, but how about knitting needles? I'm sure they qualify, but here's why I had to buy them:

I was knitting away on an afghan I'm making for my DS & DIL, when I hear SNAP!....and in horror I look down and see stitches unraveling before my eyes I was using circular needles and the cable broke where it joins the needle. While I was frantically trying to gather up loose stitches, the ravioli I was making for dinner boiled over, which created a nice flood situation on my stove and floor(Murphy's Law at its best!) I gingerly set down the afghan, turned down the stove, mopped up the mess, and just in the nick of time...because one of my cats was starting to 'help' me with the afghan!

Soooo, I had to go to Michael's and get new circular needles(but it was all I bought and I also used my 40% off coupon).

On the bright side, I was able to save the afghan and dinner. I would have been pretty upset if I'd have had to rip it all out since I'm at the half way point.

Oh Diana!

The needles are always acceptable - you have to have the tools to be able to use your stash, and those tools have to be in good working order. No wrries!

Ok came to two important realizations this morning (yes, I actually got sleep last night, so I can also actually think clearly!):
1. You are ALL aboslutely right - crafting for charities shouldn't count against anyone.
2. If I use this as a teachable moment, the yarn is actually school supplies!

Have a great weekend!

Here is my first attempt at pop-up-greeting cards (I did these for the Holiday Cards for Veterans program - check it out at the Holidays section of the forum):
Outside

Inside (words=let it snow)

These are the two created by DS:

Materials used: leftover snow stickers, cardstock, glue dots and adhesive squares, rubber stamp and ink pad

DS used cardstock, glue dots and buttons.

ann, what grades? we only have one mroee year! next yearis gonna be an easy one as he onlyneeds an english credit! we are hoping to have him get his lisence so he can either get a job or take a "trade school" credit of some kind. son has to have surgery on his foot soon and dr says he needs to choose a career that doesnt involve standing alot. he had wanted to get his doctorate in music educationand performance 9he is a cellist) but i think that he changed his mind because the opprotunities for teaching at a collegiate level in alaska are very limited. *sigh*

Christmas Cards for Veterans

These are made from recycled old Christmas cards (you'll have to tip your head to the left - sorry):

These are cards that are started this summer, but am chipping in for a good cause:

And one more pop-up card (now that I know how to do them -and it's really easy - I'm addicted):
Outside (sorry it's a little blurry)

Inside:

See ya never know what might be hiding in your stash! I'll be posting a Christmas challenge on Friday, so keep your eyes open!

Wow, they are very nice! I make my own cards each year for my family and friends. It's so fun to create handmade things for people you care about. I'll definitely add a few more for our troops this year too!

Here is one of todays projects to use up stash. I had 2 pairs of kids jeans with embroidery down one leg. The neighbor had gave them to me as the knees were out :) The rest of denim is cut into squares to later make a pet bed. Then I made a tiny flat like pillow shape and turned it into a necklace

I love the pin cushion idea....I have a ton of jeans people have given me for my stash, along with my own. This would be perfect for me and one for my grandma!
I finished two of my Log Cabin Santa's - two more to go. I'll post pics when I'm done.
