I am throwing my name in again, too. Several years ago I visited the John Campbell Folk Art School in the north Georgia/North Carolina area. It is so pretty and has been there since the early 1900's. Well, their slogan is "I Sing Behind the Plow".

Isn't that such a great concept? Love it.

'Plowing thru'... Having a child with learning disablities and realizing that the school system has left your child behind, picking up the apron strings and teaching your child. It's a hard pill to swallow knowing something is different with your child. It's the struggle day to day watching your child trying. Then going through a divorce with 3 small kids and keeping your hopes and chin up high, keeping the farm going and the home when things are very bleak, then to have your oldest child deployed out. Everyday your plowing thru to keep things as normal as possible, making sure the farm stays going and producing, and manily just keeping the home fires burning until they return home. It's staying strong when really inside you want to pull the covers over head and cry. But you promised you would be okay until he returns home, and you know that you have to keep that promise for he is out there fighting and you want all his attention there and not worrying about the home front. Yea, plowing thru is not worrying about the mules its just the load on the wagon.

I just had to go "look it up", boy the definition can really get you thinking can't it?

"The primary purpose of plowing is to turn over the upper layer of the soil, bringing fresh nutrients to the surface, while burying weeds and the remains of previous crops, allowing them to break down. It also aerates the soil, and allows it to hold moisture better."

I especially love the bit about "bringing fresh nutrients to the surface while burying weeds and the remains of previous crops...............sounds about right!

Please put my name in the hat for the apron drawing!

I "plowed thru" when my first husband found himself a "sweet young thing" and left me for her. I had never worked outside the home, written a check, driven a car or lived on my own. I was happy and content being at home and thought my life was set.
But with the Lords help and strength and many blessings I "plowed thru" and today I can honestly say I am so much better off than I would have been!

When things don't seem to be going right, put on some makeup and nice clothes and a smile, and plow thru the day looking for a beautiful sunset.

That's what 'plowing through' means--getting on with life. Last November my husband died taking with him a salary and retirement plan. So my income was cut in half but ya know, things are good. You do what you have to do with what you have. Amen!!
Add my name to that darned hat. MB

ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!
I've plowed thru farmgirl style many times in this big city.
Sometimes it's as simple as giving a farm girl hello or smile to the clerk at the grocery store because they have had nothing but rude customers before me. I've plowed thru difficult situations with the knowledge that I learned growing up, sometimes simple is best. Sometime Plowing thru means just getting by with the minimum and being happy with that!

Please add me, too. :) I've spent an embarrassing number of years plowing through nails, plaster dust, goodness knows how many feet of board lumber, siding, pipes, etc. trying to raise an old phoenix of a farmhouse out of the ashes.

Plowing thru life is raising good, strong, healthy children. You know when you've got the right amount of leverage on your "Plow" when strangers come up to you in public and tell you how kind and decent your children are. I plow through life everyday and really enjoy it-could someone pass me the corn huskers lotion, I think I'm getting a callus?!!

Since we don't have to wait until the magazine comes out to start scouting its new home (due out in maybe 2-3 weeks), post here (as many times as you'd like). MaryJane will put all your names in a hat (multiple times if you post multiple times) and let Stella Jane draw the winner. The winner will receive the apron-to-go kit pictured on page 88 in time for some holiday girlfriend gift giving. Trust me, it's beyond adorable.

OK, so this is what sometimes happens when I try to think and type before my cup of coffee... I left out MY most favorite part. In order to have your names in the hat, you need to tell what "farmgirl plowing thru" means to you.........

Either a time when you had to "Plow thru" or a time when a girlfriend had to "plow thru".. just a little about your farmgirl experiences with "Plowing Thru", let's have fun with it……….

Would like to enter too!! If I may ofcourse, duh!

Plowing through for me meant looking after and taking care of my severely Alzheimer mom for 5 years, no rest, no time off. And she was aggressive towards me to, so REALLY plowing, IMO!!

Hope to win :)

"Plowing Thru" has been something I've used all my life. It's the finishing of something you've started. It's the not giving up no matter how hard the ground is-(tough road), no matter how many stones you encounter-(obstacles), or how many weeds-(bad things) come up with your sprouted seeds or the lack of nourishment-(rain). It's the knowing that you'll reap a harvest of blessings at the end. It may not always be what you first started planting, but usually will be a surprise. God walks with us everday down the dirt roads of our lives, but only he knows the final destination.

Please add my name to the hat! :)

I'd like to be put in the hat, too!

Thanks, Kris

OOPPPSSS! Didn't catch the most important part. Sorry.

Right now I am helping my friend plow through with her parents. While she works 3 days a week 12 hours I go make sure her parents eat and take their meds. Sit with them awhile and go outside with them, help them to the bathroom....

It really is rewarding for me. Very interesting folks.

I am plowing through a funky relationship with my dd right now. She moved out when she was 13 to live with her dad and its been 3 years of no holidays, birthdays nothing. This is the first year since she left that I've been included in the doings of her life. Both of us are plowing thru....

Oh dear, my brain has been on vacatin again....(I wonder if it will ever come back)..teehee!!!

We women here where I live have a lot of Housekeeping jobs, and get asked to do a LOT of nasty bathrooms...well, guess who gets them...yours truly...
So, on goes my gloves, scrubbing tools, cleaners and others miscellaneous things, and we go to town....
My daughter sells a certain "Candle" from a company and they have "Green" cleaners and they are fantastic....
that is how I plow through...
My mother still says..."Theres no job to big for someone who wont quit"..thanks Mom...
