Do any of you have any recipes for delicious cakes? I am looking for a very good recipe for white cake and a very good recipe for chocolate cake, I love the way cakes tastes from the bakery...they are very moist, they have a delicious flavor, and they they have all that yummy butter cream frosting on top!!!! I am also looking for a delicious buttercream frosting recip too!

I have been testing different recipes, I have found some pretty good ones, but I would like better ones.

If any of you could share, that would be wonderful!!!

This is the best chocolate cake that I have ever made. I would buy raspberries in the winter to make it. Though you could make it without the raspberries and just enjoy the full chocolate decidance....oh, my...a sliver of it right now with my hot chai sounds awesome. Good luck on your quest and let us all know.

Chocolate Raspberry Cake

This cake was inspired by one that Georgia Proctor made for her daughter.
It is decadently delicious!

Cake
1 cup cocoa
2 cups boiling water
2 teaspoons soda
½ teaspoon salt
1/ teaspoon baking powder
2 ¾ cups white flour
1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preheat oven to 350’. Butter and flour 3 – 9” round cake pans. Combine cocoa and water, stirring till smooth. Cool completely. Sift dry ingredients. In a large bowl; beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Alternately adding dry ingredients and cocoa mixture. Do not over mix. Stirring just enough to moisten dry ingredients. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool pans for 10 minutes. Remove the cakes. Cool completely.

Place on serving plate and layer with Filling between the 3 cakes. Pour warm Gauche over top and place fresh raspberries onto top and sides as desired. Refrigerate. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve.

Filling
1/2 cup butter
3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
1 cups heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar

Melt butter with chocolate. Cool slightly. Whip cream stiffly with vanilla. Gently add chocolate butter mixture and powdered sugar.

Gauche
1 ½ cup chocolate chips
1 cup whipping cream

Place in pan over low heat. Stirring until melted.

This is the best chocolate cake recipe I have ever made. It is from Ina Garten's "Barefoot Contessa" show and books. It is delicious and the frosting is heavenly!

Thank you all for your recipes, I might have to try some. Do any of you have any basic white or chocolate cake recipes? I am looking for basic white and chocolate so I don't have to use store mixes. If you all have some, I would love to hear about them! I want to be able to make birthday cakes for my family, that taste like the white and chocolate cakes from the bakery, the kind with butter cream frosting!!! YUM!!!

This one is the best basic choc cake I have ever come across. Everyone I serve it to loves it. I like it too because it uses ingredients I always have on hand. Great with peanut butter icing, too.
Combine:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
6 tbs cocoa

Add:
1 egg
2 tbs vinegar
2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup oil
2 cups cold water

Beat 2 min. Bake at 350 for 30-35 min.

I have an oatmeal spice cake that I use a broiled topping on, and an apple cake that I use a powdered sugar glaze over - if you are interested in these let me know and I will get them to you - I like recipes that use basic ingredients that I usually have on hand.

On the other hand I have a cream puff cake that is delicious and easy, too...I think I need to get them in for the cookbook....
