I have tried the natural bars, just water and a washcloth, fancy stuff, nothing is working. My skin is supple but feel drab and dull and a little on the dry side. I know that hormones and aging are starting to take little affects here and there. I am not about hiding my little crowes feet or anything, just want some more youthful looking skin. I have tried Cetaphil, Dove, Oil of Olay and several organic or natural soaps..nothing is working. I am seriously contemplating going into a department store for help!!! HELP!!!!

It sounds like you need to exfoliate. That is so important, not only for your face, but for your body too. Part of the reason that moisturizers don't work is that people have a build up of dead skin cells. The moisture can't get to the skin. Take some oatmeal, chop or grind it a little, mix with a little water, then rub on your face. It will be messy but is so good for your skin and very gentle. You could also try a mask made with kaolin clay and oatmeal. Rose hip seed oil is excellent for mature skin. Hope this helps.

Heather Try a mix of Olive Oil and sugar. My daughter got me started on this and it makes my skin glow. Just put a couple spoonfuls of sugar in a small dish and add olive oil until the sugar is spreadable, then rub it into your skin, rinse with lukewarm water.

Heather, I have very dry skin. Right out of the shower (I scrub with a rough cloth in the shower to exfoliate with my homemade sheep milk soap)I put on a good layer of lavender body oil I got from Trader Joe's. It's cheap and pure so I like it. By the time I'm done drying my hair and brushing teeth and all of that stuff and ready to dress, it's pretty much soaked in and boy, it keeps me smooth and soft all day long and "glowy". At night I put on some lotion before bed, homemade stuff. This regimen has helped my skin stay nice...people always tell me I don't look my age (48) but they also might have some sort of behavior disorder in where they can't tell the truth either.

Heather - you could make your own lavender oil. You could use sweet almond or apricot kernel oil and just add lavender essential oil. Maybe Jamie could share the ingredients from her bottle? Now I'm going to have to go to Trader Joes and check it out.
