Ok, what does anyone do for kitchen burns - today I was taking out a roaster from the oven and got a painful steam burn on my thumb - I used to have some silvadene that worked really well but I'm out - any suggestions?
we used to keep a large aloe vera plant outside..simply break off a piece of a tip of the plant, open it up and smear it onto the burn. and of course a good old ice cube works well.
Ok, promise you won't laugh...I keep a small tube of Nupercainal (yep, for hemorrhoids!!) in my kitchen drawer. Works fabulously to take the ouch out of burns! Di
I just burned my thumb with a big splotch of tomatoe sauce, when I was canning. My husband googled it and You are just supposed to keep the burn in cool water. I carried a cup of water around with my thunb stuck in it for about an hour. He said useing ice makes the burn go deeper. I don't know but the cool water took the hurt away. Of course then it blistered up several times, etc, etc, but is finally almost all healed up.
