My dd is turning 16 soon and has requested an Oreo Cake. We are having a party for 20 so I need to either make a big cake, or 2 small round ones. My thoughts are this: A huge Oreo. Two chocolate layers with a creamy cookie center. I am going to make buttercream frosting and press oreo crumbs in it so that the whole cake looks like an oreo. Heres my dilema: I have looked through all my cook books and cannot find a good filling recipe. Can any of my farmgirls help me out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You can use instant pudding with whipping cream instead of milk. Makes a mousse like filling and then gently fold in crushed oreos. I also have a recipe for filling likes in Suzy-Q's if you want that instead. Wont be able to post it until tomorrow. |

Dawn - a while back a friend sent me a file that contained the recipes for famous foods. This recipe for oreos was in it - maybe you can use the cream filling recipe for the cream filling in your cake...
Ann
Oreo Cookies COOKIE WAFERS: 1 (18.25 oz) box Dark Fudge Cake Mix 1/3 cup water 2 tablespoons shortening CREME FILLING: 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 cup shortening (no substitution) 3 tablespoons hot water Preheat oven to 325F. Blend all ingredients; then knead with your hands until it is pliable like dough. Form dough into 3/4 inch balls and press flat, 1/2 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bottom of a glass works nice for this. Bake 4 to 6 minutes or until cookies are crunchy. I should think you could refrigerate the dough in cylinder shaped rolls for a couple of hours and slice 1/8 inch thick, as well. Let cookies cool on sheets. Combine filling ingredients and mix well. Form into balls about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter, again using your hands. Sandwich one filling in the center of two cookies and carefully press down until the filling spreads almost to the edge. Makes 2 dozen cookies (4 dozen wafers) |

I found this on recipezaar... it says its like the oreo cakester.... sounds yummy. Even if you dont use this cake, you could use the filling. I was even thinking if you didnt want to make too large of a cake but didnt want to make 2 small cakes, you could cut 2 round cakes in half through the center & frost in between.

whichever you make, let us know how it turned out
