I have a question...I read through all the post and didn't see anything about this. I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that people who know me know me by this and they always ask for it. The thing is is it's from a cookbook my mom used while I was growing up. I mix things a little differently...is there any guidelines about where the recipe comes from? I would love to submit it if is ok.
Thank You!

Legally if the recipe is a printed recipe in a book that is copyrighted than it shouldn't be used word for word. If you have made changes to it and "made it your own" you are welcome to submit it. Many of my recipes were handed down to me and probably originally came from a cookbook but have been altered over the years. I don't see a problem with that.

But look at it this way - I love Rachel Ray. I use a lot of her recipes. If I started publishing her Recipes in my cookbook then technically that would be taking away from her. Both her ideas and any profit she might have made off of them.

It's really a judgement call. I am not going to research where you recipe came from and probably no one else will so I'll let you make the call.

Good Question!

I am so excited about this second cookbook. I bought five the first time, and then got three more, and they have been wonderful gifts to give. Let's make sure we keep bringing this topic up, so we can get enough recipes. I will help you do that!

I have gotten your replies.....thank you. You are very organized! :)

I hope everyone reads this and sends more, because I want to learn some new recipes from farmgirls. The first book was so neat, and I use the spaghetti pie recipe all the time. I still have two copies to give as gifts this year for Christmas.

Laura I do not have a spam filter on my account so perhaps you typed the address incorrect? I got the one you sent from your yahoo account but not the others. I'll send you an email confirmation once I get them added. Thanks for sending some recipes!

Just checking in to see if you received the recipes I sent. The first e-mail you couldn't open so I re-sent them last week but didn't get a confirmation on that one. I can send them off to you again if it didn't work! These computers are frustrating with little brains of their own!!!

Hi Julie!

I have been experimenting with recipes lately, and while they all came out of a cookbook, this one is my own, so I feel okay about submitting it. It was really good! Especially with the black beans! Feel free to edit this post to make it more recipeish!

This Goulash turned out awesome! It was so easy and good! So Good!

First boil some pasta that holds it's shape well for about 2/3 the normal cooking time. Drain and set a side.

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees

Grease casserole dish and set a side.

Brown hamburger (amount varies depending on how many people you are feeding.)

Make sauce using one can of diced tomatoes (don't drain), one can tomato sauce or reconstituted paste. Add in various veggies as you have and see fit include some or all of the following. I have starred the ones I used:
*Can of Black beans
*Can of Black Olives
*2 Cloves Garlic (can be substituted for dried or powdered garlic if needed)
*One medium onion (can be substituted for dried or powdered onion if needed)
*One Can of sweet Corn

Spice to taste but don't salt. I used pepper, parsley, oregano, basil, rosemary and thyme.

Bring sauce to boil. Combine with meat.

Pour noodles into dish and pour sauce over noodles. If sauce does not cover noodles, add water till level is above noodle height. Place uncovered in 350 degree oven and bake for 40 minutes.

Halfway through, add sliced Mozzarella over top of casserole to melt.

Yummmo!! So good!

I can still use more! I've been busy this weeek but tomorrow I'm gonna try to post which categories I really need but I will take any recipes. I know a few of you have sent recipes and I haven't responded to you yet. I am getting to it. I am speaking at the state Art Educators conference on Thursday and Friday so I am busy getting ready for that. Today my husband and I directed the Junior High Chess State Championship with 16 schools and over 120 7-9th graders!

Would you be interested in a good gluten free bread recipe? I got tired of all the dry gluten free breads that you get from the stores and figured out my own homemade gluten free bread. I'd be willing to send it to you if you are interested.

Julie,
I just made a bottle for dinner : Here is a recipe I make for salad dressing. You can put it in the cook book.

Country French Salad Dressing
Makes serving for 12 and ready in 15 minutes
Just pour over lettuce wedges. Yummy

Ingredients:
2/3 cup plus 1tsp. Vegetable oil
1/3 cup plus 2Tbls ketchup
1/4 cup *splenda/ or sugar or honey
1 Tbls minced garlic
3 Tblsp plus 2tsp cider vinegar
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp salt
3 Tbls pesto

Directions:
In a blender or food processor, blend all ingredients until smooth.
Store in refrigerator.
