I need something that doesn't have long sleeves that could get sew into my projects, but right now my arms and shoulders and back are a bit chilly. We need to get a space heater for my sewing room.

So I was thinking "I'll just drape a blanket around my shoulders" but then there is the inevitable holding issue.

I have a great black 3/4 sleeve length crochet jacket that is great but the sleeves are just a bit too long for wearing while at the sewing machine.

So I draped the fleece blanket around my shoulders and secured with a possibly antique cravat type pin (feminine) and it works!

So now I want to design and then sew at least one fleece and maybe flannel sewing capes for this winter!

Alee what a great idea. I would love to see a picture of you all bundled up in your sewing room. My husband painted the only room left that I can claim as my own for my sewing and a bit of my storage. It will be oh so frigid in a couple more months and I am already thinking it will deter my sewing efforts. In the past I have actually used the room as an extra fridge during the winter months. I guess one of my first projects best be a sewing cape! I already have the space heater lined up and ready.

Alee I found a great pattern for a full length cape for a historical costume. If you look through some patterns online you may get some more ideas.

Alee,

Do you crochet? There are many great free patterns online for capelets, ponchos, shrugs and shawls. I actually just started one for myself!
