Hi all, My name is Chris Roberson and I currently live in Palm Harbor, FL and am a native Floridian. I also have an awesome place in Greensburg KY but only get to visit a couple of times a year. I'm looking forward to the day when I live there full time!
I am a homeschooling mom to 4 young'uns (Jesse 16, Jake 14, Sam 12 and Danica 10) and married for 21 years to the light of my life, Mark.
We lived for 1 year (just moved) on an acre in Odessa, FL and I finally got to have chickens for the first time in my life. I thoroughly enjoyed them and learned a lot (have lots of funny stories about being a rookie, like putting olive oil on the hens butt LOL). I sold the great pen that dh made along with my girls to the next-door-neighbor. I still get to visit so that is nice.
I am starting a garden here in Palm Harbor (thought about sneaking a chicken or 2 but you know how noisey they are so no sneaking possible!) and trying to be content here but in my heart I'm a farmgirl and long to be in KY. I have a couple of friends in KY and get to visit them when I go up and have met a couple of my neighbors, who are just the nicest people. They will do anything for you and I adore them. One of my friends who lives about an hour from my place is completely envious when she met them LOL! I went up a couple of times this spring and between my first and second visit they had gathered together and located my septic for me.
We own about 47 acres and have a beautiful spot overlooking Pitman Creek which runs into Green River not too far from my place. I even have a small waterfall which has been a life long dream. We didn't even know it was on the property until after we bought it. It was a wonderful surprise gift from God!
I look forward to participating and getting to know all of my new "sisters".

Welcome to the farm Chris! I'm jealous, I would love to have waterfall on the property, we just a really windy old crick down back. But at least its far enough away from everything that when you walk down there its very peaceful to listen to the water gurgling.
Take care, Melissa.

Welcome Chris, what a surprise I got when I began to read your post to see the words GREENSBURG, KY. That's where I live too. I'm on the southern most border of the county at the Adair Co. line. There are several other Green Countyians here also. I'm sure they'll find you soon. Hope to hear from you again.

Hi Chris,
Sending you a big farmgirl welcome from southern Indiana. I'm like you in the sense that I live in Indiana for now, but we have a farm in western Kentucky and the plan is to move there as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. I just love this group! Renee- another mom of 4, hooray! you were blessed, boys are so much easier than girls (tee hee) Melissa - after seeing Maryjane's wall tents, I am looking forward to the day when I can build one by the waterfall. I'll be sleeping there a lot! Shirley Jean - where in FL do you live? Brenda Lee - it is a small world indeed! What business do you friends own? Ada Mae - I know what you mean about being suprised when you saw Greensburg, I had the same reaction when I saw Frannie's posts and then to find that you and Cathy are from there too is just too wonderful. G'burg being such a small town, what are the odds Donna - how long do you have to wait before you get to live in the beautiful state of KY? Kathyrn - as stated above, I think my 3 boys are easier than my 1 girl anyday LOL!

Hi Chris,
Welcome from Michigan! Sounds like you have chicken stories as we do! We went from having 3 hens and a rooster to 17 new chicks in 3 months! YIKES!!! (First time with chickens...have no clue what to do but live and learn!) I'd love to hear more about the olive oil!!!
Have been to Kentucky and love it! Beautiful country! I've also lived in Florida and have loved it there also!
Looking forward to hearing more! Missy - Farmgirl Sister #360

Chris, I wish I could move back to KY tomorrow, but that's not meant to be at this time. Depending on my what happens with my job we may move in the next two years. I'm okay with that. For now the farm is leased out to a cattle farmer who is taking care of the land the way I want it taken care of. So, I'll be content for now and visit every weekend.

Hi Chris, We have something in common! Im from Ky (Louisville) and now live in Florida. We are in Williston which is between Ocala and Gainesville. My husband was born and raised here. We go to Ky every Thanksgiving to visit my family but I dont think I could ever move back. I dont think I could take the wet cold! I have two boys ages 7 & 9 that I homeschool. We have horses, cattle, dogs, tc that keep us way too busy! Its nice to know another Floridian is on the boards :) |
