Your'e still getting tomatoes and cucumbers? I want some. Mine are all gone. I did get a few from a friend today.
But yours looks SO good! Did you make the bread, too?
My favorite is bacon and tomato. Very juicy.

Happy eating! Kris

Oh my, that does look yummy! Think I will have some with you. We are still getting tomatoes and cucumbers also. In fact I'm not sure if we'll get too many ripe ones before the first frost but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The cucumbers are growing leaps and bounds but the tomatoes sure are poking!

I like fresh tomato with cucumber with a little italian salad dressing and extra italian herbs sprinkled on it. ooh yum.
haven't tried it as a sandwich though, but have eaten it as a salad before.

Out this way the tomatoes and cukes are just getting ripe. We're late bloomers I guess. I didn't make the bread but a friend did and I need the recipe. It is wheat with veg juice and honey and delish. MB

If you get the recipe for the bread would you share it? That sounds good with the veggie juice. I made veg. juice this year but put too much hot pepper in. If I drank, it'd be a great Bloody Mary!

Thanks, Kris

Alee, I grew Early Girl, Sungold and Patio. I always try the ones that produce the quickest because our growing season is so short.
Kris, I'll try to get the recipe--some people don't like to part with their treasures. Bloody Mary--too funny. Add a few carrots to the juice for sweetness. MB

Kris - we are still waiting for our first ripe tomato! Hubby put a plastic sheet over our tomato plants last night to see if we might squeeze just one ripe one out before it freezes. There are about 10,000 green tomatoes on the plants, just hasn't been any sun.

OUr cherry tomatoes did well - we've been eating them every day, but the others - nothing. More sun up your way I guess!

yummy! we planted our first garden ever this spring, but had an unfortunate incident. i think it was may, just as everything was starting to spring up, we had a huge hail storm that destroyed everything that had sprouted (tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers). i was so dissapointed, i wanted to cry! but it was a miracle and our tomatoes and green peppers are doing fine. except the tomatoes are a bit late, the stewing tomatoes are still green and i worry they won't make it before the first frost... i'll have to store them in paper bags for awhile to ripen. but, alas, the cucumbers never did regain their strength so none this year. but i feel i can't complain because we did get a nice harvest of other veggies!

In these parts, they are called mater sandwiches. And I love them. Bread looks yummy too! When you get the recipe, share it!
