Mad - yea, that's pretty much how I felt!

Ruth, wanted to put a post out here before you return just to let you know you were missed. Hope you're having a great time in the land of Disney.

Hey everybody - thanks for all the encouragement. Randy was actually fine, he is a really low key kid as far as that goes, although he has a really good memory so he may pull this out on me in 20 years or so. The time I sent him to school with peanut butter and nothing to drink probably made more of an impression than this did. It is good to know we all have a support circle though - and we take turns with it too. Y'all are fabulous friends - thank you!!
Teresa Sue - your situation with your daughter sounds like ours with my step-daughter. You have to accept that it is their choice to be unhappy but it is so hard to watch your kids making those choices.
Not much on the seed front right now - wrong time of year. I cannot wait for January and the seed catalogs, I just hope the weather cooperates this year.
Talk to y'all soon - Dawn, great jokes:D

It's 12:27AM as I write this. After playing a couple of rounds of computer games with hubby, I thought I might as well stay up and finish the newsletter. It's now available for your viewing pleasure.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween.

Happy November!

This is going to be a "hi y'all, bye y'all. Good morning/evening Mavens
Hi to everyone, love ya(waving)lol
Glad everyone had Hallowe'en fun.
Ya know Amy Grace, what can I say, I love her dearly, but it is, what it is.
I once forgot to pickup my oldest daughter, Autumn, from the airport in Tucson after she had been to Nova Scotia for three weeks with her Navel Sea Cadet group, so yea, it happens. She's not a spiteful girl tho and still laughs about it. LOL
Gotta run, have a good friend from Calif here for a few days, she, two other friends, and myself are heading over to St. Maries Idaho for some shopping, then down to Potlatch Idaho to the Palouse Divide Lodge where we are renting the lookout tower(they have converted it to a little cabin with a great view)and are going to visit and quilt all weekend. Talk to y'all Sun eve or Mon morning. Have a great weekend. I wish y'all were coming with me, :^(

Gooooooooooood, moooooooooooooooorning, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavens!

TS, it sounds like you are going to have a fun, fun, fun-filled weekend! Love to be there with ya, too. I have a quilt top that my aunt made for me. Someday when we're critterless - or at least have less critters - I'll have to attempt to tackle finishing it. And I know who to call for help!

DH and I are off for the day too. We're heading to Trail of Tears State Park about an hour and a half from here. (Did I write about this already?)

Have a wonderful day! Enjoy the beautiful weather and fall colors - if they're still around. Good morning, Ralph..........Good night, Corinne............

God bless -

Have fun Teresa. Good morning to everyone else, I haven't been around much the last few days due to this darn cold. It is just wiping me out!! Plus DH is on vacation for a few days, the part finally came for my new wood cookstove in the kitchen and he is getting it installed for me woo-hoo! We only have wood heat and our house is "L" shaped so the heat wasn"t making it to the kitchen. Now there will be warmth!!!! Added bonus is I can cook in/on it too!! I am trying to make it through this cold without any medicine, any remedies out there you want to share? I have been using my neti pot, chicken noodle soup, and a chinese herbal tea that is good for breathing. Oh yeah mentolatum on my nose too- not counting that as medicine because it is not entering my body.

Karen once again good job on the newsletter. I too am looking forward to the new season of seed catalogs. Each year I try a few new varieties and this last week I have been mulling through last years catalogs planning my attack for the next year already!!

I have to tell you girls, I try and do something fun for halloween usually food related. This year for dinner we had spaghetti with orange spaghetti sauce.... The tomato sauce was made from my heirloom orange tomatos out of the garden this year. It turned out great or at least I was told that-I couldn't really taste anything because of this cold. Hope everyone had a great Halloween.

Glad everyone is receiving their seeds and I hope they bring great bounties from them! If anyone wants some more or has changed their mind I do still have some left, just let me know. I gotta run-probably won't be back on today as we have a funeral to attend. Everyone have a great day and don't forget to set your clocks back tonight!!

Morning Mavens, it is sunday morning here in Kuwait, the first working day of the week.
Last night was cool, for the first time we felt like fall, only 65 F. Compared to the 120 F we have at night during summer time, sweater time is just one couple of days ahead of me. Aren't you laughing ? Day time average 77 F so it is not yet bad. At the coolest point of winter, we have frost in the desert on morning, 44 only inside the house and the cats and I live by the heaters.
We do not have pretty leaves that crack and curl when we walk, neither do we get trees and nuts. Candles give me the feel of autumn though and all your posts about how it is in your gardens.
Lillian and Lora, hope you are feeling better and that some rest and hot tea will help you have a good day.
Happy sunday to all of you.

Good morning! You all are so wonderful and kind (AND funny!!!) - thanks for the invitation, too! Right now my "plate" on the farm is SO full, I'm just going to be a cheerleader for the HM's, but come the middle of winter - I just might join up then! I really would like to change to an entirely heirloom/heritage/native farm (animals AND plants) and your inspiration is SO welcome...

XOXO, Libbie

Lora, I have some hedgeapples that hubby and I picked up on our way back from the park yesterday. The trees I saw a few weeks ago are now dropping the "apples." I'm going to try to harvest the seed in case anyone wants some but I'm thinking we aren't going to plant any. The trees have thorns - nasty-looking long ones that could puncture a tire! I didn't know that and didn't notice it on the tree that had the apples as it was on a bank so there was plenty of room under it to move and I was looking at the ground anyway. Here are the first two informative sites I found about them (I searched for "osage orange"). Let me know if you want any - apples and/or seeds. Since we're heading out of town again, would you please let me know by Thursday if you want any?

Happy 1st Sunday of November, mavens! Happy birthday-eve, Amy Grace!

Since I posted for Lora just thought I'd stop in and say "Hey!"

Hey!

And if anyone else is interested in hedgeapples, let me know.

Libbie, thanks for stopping by again and we'll keep the home fires burning til your plate gets a bit less full. Then we'll throw another log on the fire and welcome you in!

Yesterday at the park was wonderful. The visitor's center was really interesting. We read about the Cherokees' Trail of Tears when they were booted from their land by Andrew Jackson. They had a tree identification thing. I knew maybe two and that was by their description. Hubby knew at least half of them by site and a few more by reading the desc.

Signing off now. Will check in tomorrow - chat night and AMY GRACE'S birthday!!!!!

God bless -

Hi Mavens (waving to you happily),
I apologize for not being around much lately. My kids have been sick. Strep throat has reared it's nasty head here as well as tummy bugs and sinus infections. We seem to be on the mend. My family went to the State Fair yesterday as my son was in the 4-H BB Gun Competition. Out of 32 kids in his age range, he took 5th place! He was a tad disappointed about getting 5th because last year he got 2nd. But there were alot more kids to compete with this year and the judges scored a bit differently as well. All in all, I think he still did very well.

I missed you all!!!!!! How is everyone doing??

Hi Brenda, good to see your posting again, was wondering how you were doing Madame.
Morning Mavens, now we are one hour farther away, we have 8 hours with you from the East coast, 9 hours for Illinois and Texas, and I think 11 or 12 hours from the West Coast, Washington and Idaho.

Hey mavens,
Good Morning. WOW November, it doesnt seem possible. I had the best weekend. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the crisp morning and the colors and the fallen leaves etc. I will post some pictures later today of Coeur d alene Idaho this time of the year, it is so beautiful.
