Okay, I'm on it. I will be the blog queen! OR.... do you think we'll get a wider audience with MySpace? I'm not a fan, but I dont care as long as we are garnering attention. I'll leave it up to a vote.... and I will start on it tomorrow. Deal?

There's also homestead bloggers. lol I'm used to using blogger though.
I won't committ to it either, as I neglect my own often. lol
But, what I will say, if you use the comments thing, all the girls could add to any post that the master put up.

That's ok I like the sunflower.
What you can do is, make another profile, using a picture, etc, of what you want to show on the blog, and then use that.
I only use the classic version of blogspot. So I'm not too up on the newer version of templates. So I can't help much. But, I know you can have it where more then one person can post on it (more then one owner/admin). And so you could make a new profile if nothing else, and then switch it's owner from your current profile to the new one.

the profile doesn't actually have to be any one persons photo or info..it can read more like "This is the home of the Heirloom Mavens..the goal of which is to.." that sort of thing...and the photo can always be changed out to for example an image of seeds or something like that..and yes..multiple authors can be assigned to add to the blog I will post the link over on my blog as soon as things get going. -------- I am more than interested in what this group is doing, but for me I honestly don't have the money to spare to become a member. With having dropped back to half of our annual income to have a home based business I have to pinch my pennies more times than I'd like to. Hope ya'll understand. But if there is to be a "hen house" I won't be able to participate in that for a while. Just don't have the extra.Once I get moved into a new home..I hope to be able to join you all and have the extra to spare to be a member. ----------------- I will keep track of what you all are doing though through both your blog and what I am able to read here on the site. ---------- hugs, Tina

Wow, I got freaked out for a little bit. I somehow got logged out without realizing it so the Quick Reply box wasn't showing up. Withdrawal symptoms! Panic attack! Blood pressure sky-rocketing! Screaming and ranting about to begin when I realized the problem. Whew! My husband is saved from a super-cranky wife!!!
Alee, so sorry you're down. Follow Dr. Dawn's orders (or whoever suggested chicken soup and bedrest) and take care of yourself. Just know you are missed but your health comes first.
Tina, you are one of us, whether you're posting at the henhouse or not. You can always read it and post here, right girls? I for one don't want anyone with a heart for this to be left out of the loop.
Dawn, you busy beaver, I like the sunflower on the blogspot.
I'm hoping that even if the group decides to put something on MySpace, we'll keep the blogspot because [whiny voice] I have slow speed and don't even try to bring up MySpace - there's no point. [/unwhiny voice]
I leave for a few hours to run errands with hubby and come back to two more pages. This thread is ON FIRE!!! Gotta go fix supper now. As soon as I came in the door I made a beeline for the computer to get back up to speed. Now I need to pay attention to the one who's loving me through (in spite of) all the attention this site is getting.
Mavens, I am so honored to be associated with such a wonderful, inspiring, passionate, caring, idea-generating, spunky group of women. To quote Mama Hen, MUAH!

Ditto. I do not want anyone to feel left out. Just because you are not "numbered" does not mean you cant participate. Share and share alike. i did figure out how to take my profile off. I think the first post will be a description and we will go from there. Blog On Blogettes!

Tina Michelle ~ UGH, I hate when I do that~ I didn’t mean to make you or anyone feel that you weren’t welcome if you weren’t in the sisterhood... I just know that the sisterhood has catapulted me into change and it has been so exciting that I want EVERYONE to jump in, and on the other thread we were talking about "what can we do?"....and I know that sometimes an extra $20 is like climbing the mountain.. SO forgive me... I don’t want anyone to think that they aren’t welcome~ this is one of those conversations that takes us all and I can tell that there is plenty that you can offer to us.........SO, having said that.....dive on in girlfriend~ I know this is right up your alley~

Thanks all! I am feeling a bit better. I have been taking my Elderberry drops and I have a lot of confidence in their power. Nora is perking up so I think we are on the mend. I am probably going to have some sort of soup and as soon as Doug gets home and Nora is in bed- I will be going to bed. Ugh...oh wait...no I won't I still need to work on accounting... oh crumbs. I guess I will be up until 10 and then I will go to bed.

Dawn - that is awesome!! Oh, yeah, you don't know that I just checked out the blog. I love the sunflower - after all there are heirloom sunflowers too. I agree with the open and inclusive bit - I was going to ask about that this evening. I love being part of the sisterhood but sometimes there just isn't the extra $20. I am very excited about the energy here - I think I probably said that before but really!! I mean it!! I was envisioning having information on our blog about what worked with heirlooms we have tried and what hasn't and any hand-me-down info as well. Sort of a seed-saving information clearinghouse...what do you all think? Amy Grace

I got to the blog. Very nice. I too am tierd and am heading for bath and bed. I'll be back and I want you all to think about which badge/s we are going to start with. Somewhere in our first pages someone said that there were many badges that can help educate us to be better Heirloom Mavens, or something to that effect, lol, so I was thinking it's the middle of the month and let's make a decision about what to tackle first. Sorry, not trying to be bossy, just getting duckies in a row,lol Maybe my job could be keeping us on track of badges? Any ideas, thoughts? See ya tomarrow. I like that "oh, crumbs" line too. Too cute.

OK, I am feeling a bit better today and the "fog" has began to clear.... As I was reading through the thread, I wondered this: Since Tina Michelle already has a blog ~ "gardengoose" all about this topic.. why can't we just feed info to her and she can keep it all on her blog, leaving Dawn to focus on the Hen House? And the two of them could feed this thread.......It would cut Dawn's work load and include Tina (if she would want to do this).. anyway, that is my thought on the "BLOG". (unless you all already started a blog I couldnt tell.. Ok maybe still a little foggy)
Karen ~ it was me that mentioned that the sisterhood badges went right a long with this and were in my view great "steps" and some great reading materials...
http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/farmgirl-sisterhood/merit-badges.asp here is the link to the "badge requirements", if you all want me to post the specifics I certainly can. I would LOVE it if each of us "sisters" committed to getting these badges. Also for you guys leading this group.. Notice that in the Each Other Community Service, Community Action, know your food, (great book recommendations) these are all on Organic.. but great info..
The biggie for us is of course "Garden Gate" "heirlooms forever" and the book "gardening with heirloom Seeds" By Lynn Coulter.

GOOOOOOOOD MORNING MAVENS! If I had a bugle I'd blow it! I'm fired up today!!!! Amy Grace: I'm not getting the clearinghouse thing. Maybe its just me. But give us some more info on your thoughts. Teresa Sue: You can be the "Badge-Badger" In the nicest wya possible, DO keep us on track with our badges! I think thats awesome! I just finished my compost area this morning. All I have to do is take a pic of it! Of course, I still have 2 badges sitting on my table that need embroidered! AND I have 3 baby blankets to start because SOMETHING in going on here in o-HI-o....all my frineds are preggers.... I love kids dearly, I love being the "auntie" but I have no desire for anymore! My 15 yo chas cured me of that!! Ok off topic....... I'm glad you like the blog. Maybe there should be a couple of us contributing to it. I will trust my password to those of you that can/want to link hyperlinks, pics, and other info to it. Just email me. SIGH.... I am really at a happy place in my life. I think you girls are all owed a special thank you for that....

I just thought of something else. Maybe once we start selling/trading seed etc.... we can set up a raffle of sorts for those who want to join the sisterhood. Once we accumulate $20 to spare we can draw a name for that farmgirl to become a sister for 1 year. She is responsible to paying her dues annually after that. I know I always dont have $20 either, but if I DO have it to spare, I'd gladly help out another girl with it. I'd say we'd have to set guidelines for a trade though. For instance: they'd have to trade a fair amount of heirloom seed (with documentation that it's heirloom variety) to ONE person and that person would gift membership them for a year. Or it can be done through me only. I'd be willing to cough up 20 bucks for a fair trade... Its just a thought.... or we could split it between 4 chapter members for $5 worth of seed each... Again, just thinking while typing!
