Dawn, we will be patient as we can be while you get your computer up and running. I hope that your hands and bad times get a fix real soon. I have Reynaud's syndrome which make hands go numb, have they ruled that out? sorry if you've answered this somewhere else. You don't have to worry about answering, just a feel better wish from me .
You take care !

I thought that someone else was doing something else. Am I just losing it? I am in the process of compiling stats. Thanks for the Mountain Man thing. It was more of a joke than anything! I did like that site. Okay, I've only got a few minutes left here at work. As always, you can email me!

Hey, Dawn! Just got back online after getting supper together in the crockpot. Everything came from farmers markets or our garden (yee haw!) except for the smoked turkey legs which are organic. But I digress...........

So glad you're doing better today, my friend. Call any time - I mean that literally.

Girls, dh and I are going to be out running errands (recycling, trail walking, you know, the usual - I wish!). It's 12:30 our time right now and we'll probably be leaving around 1:00 - getting home around 5:00 or so. Think you can hang in there for 4 hours? With this group, a lot can happen in that amount of time!

Rene, this spring I took a tumble coming out of restaurant. Literally fell, over two steps knees first onto the concrete sidewalk. I'm no lightweight so it was an impact. Surprised I didn't break anything. Got a bruise on my back just from the impact. Feelin' your pain, chick.

DH just came in from picking walnuts outside! First year we've had them (or cared that we had them) for quite awhile. He said, "Picked some walnuts. They're outside in the cart." We got a little red wagon to haul garden/yard items and put it together yesterday. This is so cool!

Will check back in 30 minutes, if not sooner. Hope this made sense!

God bless -
Karen

Oh, yea, Dawn - we'll probably talk before you read this but just to put it out here and be official. I volunteered to keep an info bank if the mavens think it would be useful. Let me know.

I think anything we get our hands on, of use now or of use later is a good thing. i would like to incorporate small groups by geography to get out our message.... maybe in the near future. i can see us at fairs/festivals, conventions spreading the word.... I'm already thinking of typing up a brochure for my farm market. this is sooooooo cool!!!!

Hey ladies!

Nora and I are both down with a cold/ upper respiratory so please forgive me if I am slow to comment. I am spending 90% of my time dozing and the other 10% making sure Nora isn't getting in TOO much trouble! She is getting every child's dream week. She gets to be the Wild Child of Billings...aka she is pretty much doing whatever she wants as I have no energy. However I did draw a line at her going into my bedroom and climbing on the bed with a pen. Those are my MaryJane sheets and comforter! No _WAY_ was I going to let her little artist get to those!!

Dawn, I want some kind of job with this group. I'm only slightly computor literate, so keep that in mind. I will try to get the badge drawn up within two weeks, but I want something other than that too, if there is anything. Thankee!

I hope we can all meet up at farm fair next July...I wonder are there booths? should we work on getting our information together and handing out info packets at farm fair? (BB&B) As many of us that can make it?
I've got a bit of the tummy bug, so my mind isn't churning out as many squirrely ideas as usual, but I was just thinking about that one as one possibility. Maybe a word press or Blogger blog for even more coverage once we get all of our ducks in a row and have information to actually share with the world?
P.S. I hope you feel better soon Alee

Man - I just went and made curtains and come back to almost three new pages - this energy is very exciting.
I think I am in charge of keeping track of seeds and anything else Dawn would like kept track of. Those of you who already have seeds to save and those who are looking for specific seeds go ahead and e-mail me and I will start a database. I am thinking that this is very preliminary - I know I didn't plant anything heirloom this year - but this can help us plan for next year.
Annika and Teresa I would love to meet at the co-op for lunch and Teresa I would be glad to carpool - I can go the back way over to Tekoa from Rosalia and then if we go over to 95 and down it is just about the same distance as for me to go through Pullman. We just bought a Versa this year which means about 35 mpg - yay!! - so I would be glad to drive. Dawn - I sympathize with the computer issues - I am living on borrowed time with my hand-me-down computer I know. It is too old to buy a scanner or printer for and have it be worthwhile so I am sort of stuck in the dark ages:)
Annika - I meant to say that our house is in the permanent remodel phase as well, sigh!!
Amy Grace
I am fully expecting that there will be three new posts in the time it took me to write this LOL

Helllooooo Mavens! (Say it like Ty Penninginton... its funner). Yes, I said "funner". Internet is back and running like a top! Thank goodness it was just a small glitch and nothing costly. And thank goodness my awqesome neighbor is my computer guy! I cannot believe that there are 12 pages of this... incredible. Okay, I want to apologize now if I EVER sound like a control freak. Sometimes I get a little excited and carried away when stuff all comes together. here are my thoughts:

I think we should take a proactive approach to preserving heirloom food. We need to focus ourselves on learning as much as we can, and collecting as much as we can. I also think it'd be wise for us to start as much as we can and trade? sell? starter plants this spring. We can kitty the monies together and do something special for the chapter or donate it somewhere worth while next year. I dont think for a moment that we should ignore the "elephant" aka the Monsanto's of America. But how do you eat an elephant? thats right, One bite at a time. Knowledge is power. Learn what you can about what is an heirloom and how to preserve it well.
Next: the geography thing came to me last night at exactly 11:37pm. I was trying to sleep and it popped in my head. Total "AHA!" moment!
I REALLY like the idea of everyone having a "duty". Something you can do when you're tired of stitching or cooking! ha! To me, it makes me feel like no one is left out, or anyone else is doing everything. Plus, its good organization. If I need seed X, I go to Farmgirl A, if I am looking for a great website for info I'd ask Farmgirl B. I love that we are (going to)be a chapter with such strong purpose. Already, my eyes and mind have been opened to incredible ideas and possibilities.
If there is something you think you can do, or bring to the table, speak up. Do it. Dont ask me, I am flying by the seat of my pants here! I consider myself Mama Hen only to organize/motivate the henhouse, the rest is up to US. TOGETHER. I trust all of you. Your energy and williness is good medicine for me!
Okay, pep rally over.... I love the blog idea. Who's good with that? I can do the basics, but everyone else's blogs are so pretty, mine is blah. I love to write. I should've been a journalist. I love the brochure idea. I LOVE the idea of coming to BBB! Someone tell me where to stay, how much it is to get in, etc... so I can start budgeting! I love to travel! Okay, I'm done gushing.... for now! :)

Well, I'm going to throw this out to you Dawn. I live on the Palouse. I'm about an hours drive south of CDA, where the BBB is starting,an hours drive north from MJ's farm, and I'm 11 miles from Oakesdale where the Barron Mill is and where the BBB is going to go to for an event(I'm still waiting to hear all the details) I have a guest room that you are welcome to use. I will warn you, I live in a drafty old farm house that has one bathroom, lol You would have to fly into Spokane would be my guess. The BBB starts in CDA(Coeur d'Alene, Idaho(we are right on the WA/ID border). MJ store is across from the CDA resort, I think that is pretty spendy, but maybe they will arrange a block of rooms for this event and the price will be more reasonable. That's all I know. But like I said, your'e welcome here.
Warmly,

Teresa Sue

One day I'm going to have a bigger house with guest rooms HA! I can dream right?
I'm not good at keeping up with a blog. I get busy and forget to post for six months Mayhaps someone else could be the blog keeper and we can all submit things to be posted to her. I'd take it but overcommitting is something that I do and then I can't always follow through, so I'm staying with mistress of the web links and book lists at the moment until I see how I handle that. I don't want to disappoint anyone.
