Gotta go make supper but wanted to tell you all thanks for being the kind of mavens with whom I feel comfortable sharing a four-screen post! All day I've been thinking about what I wrote and why I'm not walking the talk. It may not have helped TS but it has helped me. Getting back on the horse now - healthwise anyways! Giddyap!!!

God bless -

Thank you Karen for letting us know what is going on with our dear QMD. I'll add my prayers for speedy recovery.
Also thank you to all of my dear Maven friends for your advice. I could not have any better friends than all of you.
One more day at the cafe, then off to the cemetery. The fall weather here has been spectaclar. It is the nicest fall since we have lived in this part of the country. Usually its snowing or at least raining by now. The trees don't want to drop their leaves tho, rain is supposed to start tomarrow, so I might be done at the cemetery soon. Especially since I heard the "S" word on the weather last night. Once it snows I can't do anything with the leaves except wait for spring. I am ready to be done tho.
Oh! I almost forgot, thank you, thank you Lillian for the seeds. I haven't had time to open them yet, but I have them!
Take care and have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Mavens.

Sorry I haven't been on for a while. I do hope Dawn is doing better. What a terrible thing to happen! Karen please keep us posted.

Things have been absolutely crazy here since we got back from vacation. Lance's diabetes went into a tailspin and all he does is sleep when he is not at work. Doctor is working on it. Lliam got sent home from school on Tuesday with fever. He has strep throat. Keeping him home again today just to be sure he's not contagious. Have any of you hear of PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome? Well, I have it. When I went back to work on Monday I felt kinda crampy, but didn't think about it. Tuesday I was in horrible pain, but took some Tylenol and kept working. I went back to the post to drop off paperwork and I guess when I reached up to check my mailbox a cyst ruptured. Wow was that ever painful. I thought I had been stabbed in the gut! I went in to the ladies dressing room and curled up in a chair and cried until the pain eased. Since it was close to the end of my shift, I headed home. Went to the doctor and low and behold, "You have PCOS dear" Along with that comes insulin resistance which is sorta like diabetes, but not. I wondered why I was not able to get rid of the flab on my stomach. The I.R. is what causes that. Yippy. Doing better now. Hopefully things will calm down now. Haa haaa haaaa.

I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

thanks

Hey chickies. This is going to be short lived as I'm in much pain. Did not go to ER last nite. Instead hubby and I fought over $$$... oh Lora.... yes I've heard and researched PCOS. It IS NOT the end of the world. Wow, when it rains, it pours..... I am choosing to be upbeat thru all this. Attitude is 80% of my problem.
Good Stuff....
I have this feeling that we Mavens are making farmgirl history. Dont ask how or why.... I just get this VIBE that something big is gonna pop open and whoaaaaa Nellie.... watch out mavens!
T-shirts. I have decided to wait until I see what my friend TS have dreamed up for the badge. That way maybe we can incorportate that onto a top or a ball cap. Fair enough?
For my local mavens (Marcy & Lora).... do you feel like an overnighter before the holidays here in Ohio? If its not do-able...thats fine... I'm just bored and want to play....
More good stuff.....
I found a place called the Herbal Shoppe in a town about 15 minutes north of me. Never would I have imagined something like this near me.... but I am always traveling south of my hometown, never North. This store has vitamins galore, some organic foods, a library.... and..... tons of people like you and me! there was a flyer there for grass fed freezer beef, and the such. i am going to drop off flyers regarding the farm market next year. I think I will do well with the FREE advertising there!!
I am doing welll otherwise. Still sick. NOt keeping anything in or down again. Ive lost quite a bit of weight... (not in a good way). Corrine, I am making the lemon rice as I type.
Karen is correct. I get sooooo emotional when speaking of my sister mavens. I'm defensive aof our mission as well. We were called together by a force stronger than us and I count all of you in my blessing everyday. Thanks for the vibes... Off to eat rice, and then bed... again. MUAH!!

PS: I did the maven thing at the store yesterday and talked about our chapter and our mission to bring back lost/forgotten food. The clerk was VERY interested in this and wrote down MJ's web addy and the title of AMV.... For someone who wasnt keen on reading the book I sure talk about it ALOT!

OH, and as I was in another store.... I just got super nauseous, and then...Good Night Irene! i "came to" fairly quickly and they wanted to call the squad... I refused. They asked for hubby's info and digits and allowed me to 'get my land legs'. I drove home after a bit and then Jerr stopped by to check on me. I slept from 3:30 until 8am this morning. haha... that'll leave plenty of sewie time tonight as I wont sleep a lick! I am fine.... I am fine.... I just want an answer. Oh, I never did say, but the CT scan came back clear.... I guess I DO have a brain after all!! huh! Whodathunk?

Well, Dawn, this was a pleasant surprise! Glad you're UP and around this morning, girlfriend, but sure wish you'd gone to the doctor. Not too happy about you having fainting spells and driving a car either. What's the status with the spinal tap? Is that still in the plans or is it on hold? Keeping you on the prayer list (not that I'd ever take you off )

I like the idea of having a consistent logo with the badge/T-shirts/caps/etc. I vote for waiting on TS's design.

Sounds like the Herbal Shoppe is going to be a great resource for you and the mavens. Maybe we'll get some more sisters from it!!!

REST - EAT - REST - BE GOOD TO YOURSELF

Love you, Ralph............

First things first- Dawn, Hugs and Prayers for you! Hope you are back to us soon!!

Teresa- You are welcome for the seeds. Our rain begins on Friday too, but it has been a beautiful fall for the NW hasn't it.

Lora- I feel your pain! I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured a very long time ago. The pain was horrid!!!!

Karen- Actually your post was very inspiring and caused me to reflect on my own body too. In the last 18 months I have gained 20 lbs and am not sure why. Yesterday I decided to get serious about loosing 10 of those lbs and getting back on an exercise plan. Thanks!!

Today I am off to the big city to buy a dress. We have a funeral to go to and I dont have any long sleeve dresses that fit me right now. Actually am hoping to find a blouse or sweater to go with one of my skirts and call it good. I really am not in the mood for shopping, my nephew was over for a few days and brought me a cold. Hopefully this will be the only one I get this winter. I will pop in later when I get home to see if there is any news on Dawn.

Everyone have a wonderful day. Lillian

I was posting at the same time a you Dawn. Glad to see you here! I am with Karen, wish you would have gone to the DR or ER. Sometimes when you see a different DR, the have a fresh perspective on what could be wrong. Take care of yourself.

Off and running now..............

Lora, girl, sending up prayers for your whole family right now. I had an ovarian cyst once but - get this - the technician popped accidentally while she was doing the exam! It wasn't a big one so I wasn't in a lot of pain but it sure freaked her out! Does the doctor think this will be a recurring thing or is there something you can do to prevent future cysts?

And what's up with Lance's diabetes? Any clue to what triggered the tailspin?

Lots of love and TLC for Lliam. I love that name! Is he named after anyone in the family or did you just love the name too?

All of you take it easy and know you're being kept close to hearts.

God bless -

Lillian, I'm glad the post was helpful. I love to read and learn. It's both a blessing and curse. I learn a lot about a lot of things but I get so caught up in it sometimes I end up not doing anything. Or I try everything and get overwhelmed!

Right now I'm just trying to concentrate on the Beautiful Bones book and doing the simple exercises in it and working more calcium into my diet. I am one of those really and truly big-boned girls (got it from my grandma) so I was very surprised last year to find out I'm heading toward osteoporosis. Eventually I'll get back to lifting weights (I love it - I feel so powerful!) but for now I'm starting slow, walking and drinking lots of milk and eating cheese (that's not too tough - it's one of my favorite foods).

Regarding the milk thing, I found a new brand at Whole Foods yesterday. It's VAT pasteurized and non-homogenized (meaning the cream floats to the top - thought of you, Dawn!!!). I didn't know what VAT meant - it means it's pasteurized at a low temp - 145 degrees instead of the usual 280 degrees. Anyway, I'm breaking open the bottle this morning so will let you know. It's also just over 200 miles away so it's doesn't have to travel cross-country to get here. And even our local (wihtin half an hour from my house) grocery chain has it. WOO HOO! The website is www.farmerscreamery.com

Oh yea, I forgot to add yesterday that while I still have many pounds to release, I'm 50 pounds lighter than I was four years ago. That worth somethin', huh?

God bless -

TS~
OK, Well I think you have a VERY smart Chiro.... I know that when I follow the "80/20" Raw diet, I feel best... But it is so hard to do. But here are a couple of Books and websites that I love; The Hallelujah Diet (www.hacres.com) this plan is from a man named REV George Malcumus so if the religious thing bothers you, just grab the great info and jump off.. He adds Super greens, which is a GREAT detoxifier, and while I have used both barley green and super blue green algae, I prefer as few supplements as possible... (Although I do still take enzymes and probiotics). I also love Carol Alt's "eating in the raw"... and "the raw 50"...I also love "living in the Raw" by Rose Lee Calabro it is a great recipe book.

Nomi Shannon has the raw food gourmet~ and she is brilliant (my opinion) her website is www.rawgourmet.com).

No advice for you, I know how hard this thing is... and I know how SMART you are. You will find the right thing for you. Having said that, Karen is on to something about a forum that talks about "healthier lifestyle", so if you choose to go down this RAW road, let me know and I would certainly try it again with you. Like I said, I know that when I do it, I feel awesome and my body doesn’t have to work as hard as when I don’t do it and the fact that I have Lupus the less stress the better. REV Malkumus suggests 80/20 where 80 % is raw and 20 % cooked (steamed) warmed... etc. I believe that Carol and Nomi are 100% although you can warm certain foods below a certain temp and they still consider it to be raw as it doesn’t kill the natural enzymes. Another really great recourse is "don’t dine without your enzymes", written by friend Victor P Kulvinskas M.S. Victor was instrumental in my "healing process" with Lupus, he is a brilliant man that has been active in Cell tech (super blue green algae),that I have had the honor of sitting as his "feet" and learning from.. Had I stayed at it I would be so much further. The Ann Wigmore Institute and the Hippocrates Institute. By the way; Ann Wigmore world renown Raw Foodist (her website is www.annwigmore.org), and the Hippocrates Institute is a wealth of knowledge (www.hippocratesinst.org) there is also a whole social network at www.aliveraw.com

I hope this info helps you! Email me or call me if you want a "change your life, buddy"....You would be surprised at what I know about this topic... as I have clearly defined, I am a "researcher"...hahaha, however in this topic I am literally just short of a masters degree in Holistic Nutrition.. I just need to "do it now"... UGH~ that is the part I hate....Maybe you as a partner is just what I need!

Oh gracious Dawn. What a trip. Glad you are sorta feeling better. I think an overnighter would be wonderful!! Let me know when and I start driving!! Like you, I have been sharing info with others. Some kinda nod, but there are others that are very interested.
I think you are right about the BIG thing happening.

I also think that waiting for the badge info before doing shirts or hats is a good idea. It would be awsome to tie it all together(with apron strings).

I did buy a hat the other day at Rural King (farm supply store)that says FARMGIRL on it.

gotta run

So Dawn,
I am confused. Is your "humor" ~ You feeling better? or part of your "spell"?
