Tina, hang in there with the moving stuff. Sounds like you've got it pretty well under control. What's the status on your house? Did it sell or should I keep that on my prayer list?

God bless -

Annika, we're asking for Heifer contributions for Christmas this year too. Haven't done it yet. Kind of dreading asking the in-laws as MIL buys our gifts when they go on vacation and usually has them by now. They already know we walk to the beat of a different drummer so this will only mildly surprise them!

Dawnette, how are you feeling this morning? I guess I should have looked in the henhouse before posting here. Great idea about the Monday night chats, BTW. Miss ya, Ralph! Love ya, Ralph!

Okay, back to the re-entry work. Still have unpacking to do and then going shopping. The SSE catalog was waiting for us when we picked up our mail yesterday. DH is pouring over it as I type. He's quite taken with all of this and it's hard to get the AVM away from him at times. So it may be a while before I get to look at the SSE and post our seed choices!

Later, mavens! Heading to the henhouse...........

God bless -

Rene,
I would love to know how to make your button bracelets. Do you have a tutorial that you can direct me to or directions to send?

Hey ladies, at the bottom of this thread we are talking about iron-on Maven slogans for t-shirts hoodies and the like, go take a peek and have your say!

Thanks Annika. I will be calling a shop today about that. I would also need to know what kind of font.... size of letters etc.

FYI: I get a rural newspaper here in ohio called Firelands Farmer, next month they are starting a womens section in the periodical. I have submitted a request for MJ's Everyday Organic as well as some neat little stats re: heirlooms and women on the farm. If all goes right, I may be looking at a bonafide opportunity for women of the land all over. And more than ever I am hoping for a journalist opportunity to come out of this (I'd be lying if I said I wasnt thinking about that little edge....) but seriously, what a great way to get our "voices" heard...... all I have to do is keep pummeling them with statistical emails.... I'm pretty excited.

Yay ! you go girl! I'm darned proud of you! I hope everything goes peachy! There was a sight about women in agriculture day, I'll have to go find that for you...very cool
On the Iron ons, I'm not too up on fonts that you could use in an iron on or what is available :/ sorry

Here! We missed it this year, but I think it would be cool to celebrate it and cherish the farm women in all of us.

Dawn, I've got what you've had I guess, only not so urpy...my tummy feels awful today
So I'm just hangin' out wrapped in a blankie.

I think we need Maven fund raiser gardening calendars too...and I want it to be a holiday like mother's day or something...it NEEDS to be on the darn calendar!

What would we decorate a farm tree with hmmmmm....thinkin' but what a cool idea! Dawn, there is a reason you are Mama Maven And farm gal presents...did you see the statistics? We definitely need presents! just thought you'd like it and that The Mavens needed a Mavenish holiday all of their own.

hi,
for whoever asked..no the house hasn't sold yet..we are waiting until January to put up the signs. We still have a few things to get done to the house and yard before the signs go up but we have made plans to get the signs up in January so yes start your good thoughts/prayers in January.:0)
I've been packing some things away though and trying to get it ready for some deep cleaning and getting things looking nice.
Cleaning up the yard/which entails a lot of trimming of trees, hedges and so forth.
----------
Annika and Dawn..I hope you gals get to feeling better.
-------------
Everyone please have a good day.
------------
hugs to you all.

Okay, I suddenly feel like I am all alone out here. Oh well I will talk to myself like I always do.... Long ago TS asked about my DD's 16th birthday cake. Today i finally got started. Every year since she was born she has had a "halloween" birthday. Thats the curse of being born 4 days prior. We've always had a big halloween to-do at our place. Anyhow, she and her father have always done a spider-web theme on teh birthday cake. Since she moved in with her dad, I have not been involved in b-days, holidays or anything-two and ahalf years of no special days with my kid. Its a drama story..... anyhoo. This year she will be 16 and I've been invited to the party. Not only was I invited, but I was asked to do a theme cake. I am soooooo excited! I love love love doing theme cakes. She loves oreos and loves the dessert that I make called dirt dessert. Most of you willprobably know that its a mousse-like confection with cookies and cream cheese that pretty much is death on the arteries and a lifetime on the bum....nothing healthy about it whatsoever. Thats my kick off. So I got this pan big enough for 3 men in a tub (rub-a-dub-dub! honestly, I'm a total nut!) and I'm lining it with chocolate graham crackers. Then the pudding/cookie part. The top with me crushed cookies (duh) in the them of.....Ghosts In The Graveyard.... (HA!ha! Ha! that's my best spooky laugh....) Today I made sugar cookie tombstones, ghosts, pumpkins and a black cat. Cant have a spooky graveyard without a spooky cat ya know..... I dipped the pumpkins in orange chocolate and gave them some green icing "vines". I am off to buy mini choco chips for the ghosts' eyes. I also made licorice "trees" with hollow licorice and wire. Totally unedible (thank heavens something is on this thing...)becasue I hot glued them together. I have plastic skeletons and various creepy things to "plant" in the cemetary as well. All in all I've been having a blast making this "cake" and will post pics of it in its completion when done. In the past I've also done boob cakes (dont ask....) Beach cakes, pirate cakes and all kinds of stuff. Oh, I am also dipping oreos in orange chocolate to make cookie suckers for Audrey (dd) and her friends. So thats my little cake blurb. The End.
