I am well. We have been making our yard and home ready for winter and it has been a rainy, blustery day today. I am glad to be in and sitting in front of my beloved computer talking to my friends. I hope that I can go and meet some of the other farmgirls too, I don't know many people here.

I am fine thanks, looking at all the posts.
Annika, I am with you, the older I am growing, the simpler and decluttered life I want. And playing in the dirt would be my absolute pleasure, will have to hold on this one for a little bit.
soon we will have news about our move, DH boss told him yesterday that he is personally pushing to keep him for 6 months to one extra year... that would make it easier for us even if we surely will have to find another home, the landlord of the one we are currently living in wants it back.

I hope that you get to stay for a while longer and find a wonderful home to live in. Where else might you end up? I love to travel, I might just have to jet over and visit you one day =)
Moving in a rush is no one's idea of a good time, I hope that you have plenty of time to get ready for your next big move.
It is a strange thing....when I was young I thought the world of material things and now that I will be 50 in two years, I find that I mostly enjoy the simple things and seeing how much joy a simple thing can bring us.

Isn't the JL Hudson seed catalogue amazing? I want to grow just about everything in it.

That is all okay annika, the connexion is slow at our end too.
I like their catalog a lot myself, am going to indulge in a few vegetable, all french heirlooms that I've never seen before, the carrots "little fingers", corn salad "verte de Cambrai'and "verte dÉtampes",lettuce "Mascara", and melon "vert grimpant".
Would you like some of them when I get them ?

Geez, a day late and a dollar short once again. I was getting ready for our trip. Trying to get all the dishes done, laundry done, chickens cooped up, blah blah blah. You all know how it is getting ready to go somewhere. We won't be leaving until Tuesday evening, but I am taking my work laptop with us so I can keep up and Lliam can do his homework.

I have packed AVM and all of my MJF magazines, quilting project and whatever else I can think of to take. We decided against taking the horses. My knees are killing me and I just don't feel like riding when they hurt.

I plan on reading and re-reading AVM. I also want to figure out what seeds I want to order. I haven't even looked at a catalog yet. I also want to finish my Sisterhood patch and work on my pillow cases.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, I really do appreciate it. My brother didn't even call me!!

I was able to go to Whole Foods today. I bought all kinds of organic things like apples, potatoes, chicken broth, cereal for Lliam, CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to me. he hehehe.

I also got a detox kit that my hubby thinks is crazy, but I feel like I need it. With everything that is going on, I need to clear up and clear out the negative to make room for the positive.

Gotta run, still have things to do!! Good night and Good Morning to everyone!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Lora #358

I know what you mean by playing in the dirt being an absolute pleasure. I have lived a lot in apartments or in the middle of cities and not had any place to grow things. It is dry here but carefully I can garden. I have two little rescued grape vines of unknown variety growing in a huge half of a barrel this year... My little "Cameo" rose was beautiful this summer. I cherish each thing that thrives here.

Did someone say chocolate??? I could use some chocolate, lots of chocolate. :) Good morning and evening girls. I'm not feeling very well tonight. It seems that I have caught a nasty tummy bug. :( Yuck! Dawn is sick again? That is not good. Double :( :(

Well, I just wanted to say hello. I'm off to bed to rest.

Hello Brenda, so sorry to hear that, a bit of rice with lemon juice cures me everytime and last week that was my diet, my stomach was playing games with me too.
Annika, sorry sister to leave you alone but now I have to get going and the internet being so slow, it is not easy to chat.
Sweet dreams to you girlfriends, dreams of roses and sweet peas.

Good evening Corinne, Good morning to you other Mavens,
Well, Annika, looking over the posts it looks like the other Mavens forgot about our Monday Maven Madness, hehehe.
Dawn and Brenda I hope y'all are feeling better today.
Lora enjoy your getaway. Hey, I have a question for you? When did Farmall and was it, McCormick/Ferguson merge? The 30's my DH thought. Just wondering because I have cream seperator that is McCormick/Ferguson made. It's Farmall red, no, I guess it's more of a maroon. Glad you had a good birthday. I have three brothers and only one ever remembers my birthday so don't feel bad.:) If I would have had your addy I would have sent you a BD greeting!
Well it's Tue and I start my three days of working at the cafe, running home to clean up, and hurrying to the Chrio in CDA.
I'm still waiting for the trees to drop their leaves at the cemetery so I can finish up there. I've been working on the rose garden while I wait. I'll be glad to tuck it in for the winter.
Have a great day Mavens.

Happy Belated Birthday Lora!!

I wish I could have joined you last night for the chat. I have alot of packing done but still more to do. I have a question for all of you, if you could help. Are you able to pack shampoos, bodywash, toothpaste, deodorant, etc in your suitcase or does that have to go in your carry on?

I have never flown before and this is quite a new experience for me.

Sorry to go completely off the topic here. I will be bringing AVM to read on the plane. I can't wait. We have been planning this and putting it together for 3 years. Saving and scrimping to take the kids to Disney one time.

Whoa! This is what I get for chiding y'all about only putting out 4 pages Thursday to Monday! The post about last night's chat came after I checked it but couldn't have attended the party anyway as too much re-entry stuff to do. Looks like it was a good one and I'll plan on being in on next week's chat party.

I'm going to do some research on HFCS. I was sure I lost weight on the trip as I brought nutritious food and didn't eat as much as usual. Got on the scale this morning and had gained FIVE pounds. The only thing really out of the ordinary (other than eating at the relatives) is that I had about a soda a day to settle my stomach (nauseous from heat and traveling). DH talks about how HFCS causes people to gain weight because it creates a feeling of hunger causing them to eat more. I'm wondering if it just flat out makes you gain weight. I almost bought Steaz soda (at Whole Foods) to take on the trip because the ingredients are simple, it's 1/2 to 2/3 the calories of regular natural soda and it tastes good. But it only comes in glass bottles so I didn't want to mess (i.e. createa mess) with it on the trip. Next time I'm taking them!

God bless -

Lora, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, chickie! Sorry your brother didn't call but glad you had the mavens to serenade you!

Was this your first trip to Whole Foods? What did you think? How far is it from your house? Answer when you have time.

Have a great time on your trip. Sounds like you are well-equipped!

TS, I know you're off and running already but wanted to wish you a great day anyway. How many days a week are you going to the chiro? And what are the FQ's you all are referring to? Is it a Mud Hens thing or did I miss a post?
