Oh Corinne, I have their catalog! I just got it too, and am only half way through reading it. Isn't it amazing? I will check out MEN (I already have one of the two legged kind *g*) and see what they have to offer this month.

Oh! ladies, Nights are not a good time for me. Usually my dh waits until it is quiet and works on the computer to do his homework. I can just jump in here at another time and say hello and read what is happening. I have been reading AVM and taking notes. I have been writing my hand off. I need to post the things that have caught my attention either later today or tomorrow. I won't be on the computer much this week and I won't be on at all next week. On Friday, my family is leaving for Disney. This will be our first time going and we are all very excited. There is so much I have to get ready that I just can't come here and visit. I will miss all of the mavens here. Blessings, Ruth

Mavens are "information specialists", or "people we rely upon to connect us with new information."[6] They accumulate knowledge, especially about the marketplace, and know how to share it with others

Happy Birthday Lora!!!!!
Sometimes Monday nights will work, tonight, however will not. My husband is going to be gone most of the rest of the week so if I get on the computer for a whole hour on his last night home, when he already volunteered to cook dinner so I could go to a chapter meeting, I will not be on the a-list. Have fun chatting ladies, hope to catch up with y'all later Amy Grace

I got an email from Dawn, asking me to let everyone know that she will not be able to come tonight to our chat due to the fact that she is taken ill again. She is hoping to catch up with us all soon. I hope you feel better soon Dawn, poor girl ! No one enjoys tossing their cookies. Rest and take care.

I'm good. Not looking forward to work, work, work, dr.,dr., dr.,. It must be the weather, loss of sunlight, I don't know what, but I have absolutly no ambition. I would like to find a junk-food-for-my-mind novel and curl up in bed for about a week. Well, I'd need more than one of those novels, ;^) Have you read the entire AVM, Annika?

So just cross posting here. I mailed your FQ's off today by UPS. How are you doing Teresa Sue? I've been going back and underlining the heck out of my first two chapters of AVM, all of the useful information, I'll never get rid of this book. It's a keeper.

No, actually, there has been a lot to do around the house, yard and farm, so I'll spend a few minutes posting, leave my computer running, go do this or that, come back, post a bit more... I have been drooling to have the time to sit down and read the whole thing.

LOL, A book had to be a real dawg for me to get rid of it. I'm just bad about keeping my books and my homesteading magazines. I love to read and re-read them. Of course a lot of the books that I like have skills in them that are becoming lost arts. So I keep them, I feel there will be a need for them someday. I am highlighting my AVM a lot too. I've read it through once already and I'm reading our two chapters a week and it's just like new material, I guess because there is just so much info in the book to absorb.

It seems like there is so much fall work to get done before the holidays and winter settles in. Actually, I'm looking forward to January because then I can just go into my sewing room and sew and quilt. I mailed your fqs today too!:) I hope you like them.

I'm glad that they mention , on page 19, www.heifer.org We give money to send livestock to people in need through out the world as often as we can afford, and always ask that our family members, who all think we are weird for it, give money to hunger relief instead of buying us another dust collecting object for Christmas

B.K mentions a lot of things in that book that most people don't even know exist, let alone think about. Isn't it funny how people are about Christmas presents? My husband once tried to get his entire office and staff to donate the money that would be spent on a Christmas party to the local orphanage and everyone had a fit. It was pathetic.

Well, it looks like we are the only two birds chirping =) I think we all need to curl up and read a few books now and then. I'm actually looking forward to snow so that i can settle my self in and do some crafts. Always so much to do this time of year.

I believe it, people get really funny about Christmas...they don't see giving to something that you believe in as giving something to you...so we all end up with things that we don't really need, but it makes the giver feel better.

I agree. First summer just seems to have so much work, and then fall comes and it seems like more work. I start thinking about the holidays and I get up tight about them...don't get me wrong, I love them and I love to have my family over, but it is expensive and between trying to work, get the house ready, do all the cooking, and baking,,etc. It just gets to be overwhelming. Honestly, if it weren't for my grandkids, I would be happy to set out a bowl of pinecones, set on the front porch curled up in a quilt with a cuppa tea and watch the snow fall. That would be a peaceful Christmas. We don't even get crazy with gifts either. We exchange stockings and DH and I get each of the grandbabies a gift. I guess I wish my kids would help out with the food part more. January is coming tho and sew, sew, sew is what I'll be doing.
