Hello Corinne, Just wishing you the very best luck with your bazaar!

Good morning Mavens!

Teresa Sue, I need to catch up on the journalling this weekend. I think I'm just going to have to start typing it as a word doc instead of keeping it in the conventional manner...I am lousy at getting myself to write any more! Darned pitiful at it really...blah!

How IS everyone doing on AVM? I haven't seen a lot of discussion yet. I've read the first two chapters and when I get time today, I'm going to go back and make notes. Then I'll have a lot to chat about. =)

I know what you mean, I've been highlighting in my book the parts that really stand out for me. I listed a few in the book thread, but it was just the tip of the iceberg! Ha, my entire book will be yellow before I'm done, lol.
Well, I've got to git, I still have a bit to do at the cemetery before the burial today. Then I get to be home and I need to clean House! It is disgusting!!! I can't stand the clutter, and the dust bunnies look like they've gone ferel.

Sorry Corinne, I made a mistake about the days. I've been having insomnia and I'm tired, so I just forgot what day it was for you

Going to try and read more of AVM this evening. I'm reading several books at the same time.
How is everyone doing on AVM? Chat in the hen house about it. What does it mean to you? How has it changed your way of looking at things? thoughts?

Annika- AVM really changed my thinking on things - it made me realize how very, very important changing our way of life is. Barbara Kingsolver articulates a lot of things in the book that I have sensed, but haven't known the details to. When you have a concrete fact like one local meal per week per family and the amount of oil it would save, that is a very powerful piece of information. It shows me how much one person can make a difference - and look at us....a whole bunch of really committed mavens, think what a difference we can make together.
Teresa Sue - we are going to Greenbluff tomorrow too!! How funny. We have a pumpkin carving party at my in-laws to go to, so we gotta get pumpkins.
It was another beautiful day here, amazing views on the drive home
Take care all

Amy Grace, have a good time. Next Sat after I do the Rosalia thing I'm going to go to Cheney and get all four of my grandbabies and bring them home for the weekend. We'll carve our pumpkins we get tomarrow, make witch's fingers cookies, popcorn balls, and caramel apples. I know, too much sugar! I'm a firm believer that if you eat healthy 99% of the time, the other 1% won't take you out too badly. My food journal will take a beatin' that weekend, hehehe. We'll probably have a fire outside if the weather is decent and just enjoy the kickoff to the holidays.
The trees are beautiful aren't they!

Morning ladies, good night to ya'll.
How funny everybody was cleaning yesterday.
Tina I am glad you had help with your ward, it is a big job done for you.
Amy and Teresa, happy pumpkin and carving, things i really enjoy. We bought a small round pumpkin, just to pretend... will save the seeds hehehehe
Annika, fix youself a warm tea or cocoa or milk if you like it, when you have insomnia, it helps us relax at night and we go to sleep easily. It is the hot milk they used to give to babies and it works for me all the time.
Good night to you, rest well. Happy sunday everybody.

We HAVE to preserve seeds. Look at this. Yes this is Europe, but things will not be so different here soon if they are that different now. So once again I am here for a reason I believe in. Thank goodness Rene brought it up in the first place. I am heartened that so many countries and places are rejecting or trying to reject GMO/GE seeds and crops.
Corinne, you are right to include Kokopelli in our list, they are doing what is right and being fined for it. I have a bunch of curses for the other big seed companies out there that are trying to stop heirloom seeds from being preserved.

Just a thought to toss around. A few of you (and myself) were wondering about how we can manage our lives and still jump in the vortex. There was a suggestion of m,aybe getting online once a week and gabbing about whatever. I was wondering about MOnday nights. MOnday Maven Madness. We could get online about 9pm est which would be 6pm PST. and stya one for about and hour or so. Lemme know.

Sounds fabu to me, DH watches football on Mon nights, I can have his favorite football food, enchilada made ahead of time and voila! we can cackle away.
Annika that blog is just so frightening. Here I was thinking the seeds were safer in Europe. Those huge companies have very long tentacles, don't they?

Hi all,
Hope everyone enjoyed a good weekend. Um, Mondays would be fine. I usually head to bed at 10 anyway because I have to get up for work on Tuesday mornings. I work part time and Monday and Tuesday and Thursday the days I am there. The weekends are busy so Monday works best for me.

HI Corrine,
I found I wasn't sleeping tonight so I am up working, trying to get a jump on my week. How are things there? I feel my body "fighting" the change in time around here, as it is getting dark way too early for me to get all the things on my "lists" done. I didn’t spend the day cleaning, although I certainly should have. I had family obligations and then snuck in some antiquing... was a great day. I guess cleaning will have to wait.

TS~ I am really looking forward to seeing everyone in Rosalia this coming weekend, make sure to HUNT ME DOWN, OK?

I'd like to join in on the reading of AVM. I don't have the book yet but when I get it I will try to catch up. Is it ok? I checked this morning and I'm still not in the henhouse. Will try to get some time to email Sunny tonight as I have to work today.
Need to scoot and get some clothes on the line before I leave. Have a good day everyone!

Hello girlfriends, today was a good day, I got mail from my swap partner of the Mud Hens chapters, beautiful fat quarters and an apron and a pot holder, then I got Mother Earth News magazine a seed magazine and did some good work for the bazaar.
About MEN (not the 2 legs specie, but the magazine...), they have a neat article about a couple gardeners
http://www.kitchengardeners.org/
Check them out, a lot of very interesting article.
The seed catalog came from :
www.jlhudsonseeds.net
They have heirloom seeds that I've never seen listed anywhere else, and they have been in business for close to a century. They have a very strict policy asking people buying from them to not sell the seeds or their progeny to any individual or company who would modify, alter the genetic or engineering or breeding of ANY part of the plant.
They want to protect the Public Domain status of their seeds.
REALLY INTERRESTING.

They have a huge list of flowers and plants, bulbs and flowers.
Their listing of vegetable is smaller than others places but different and quite interesting, with varieties that I've only seen on Kokopelli listing.
Happy checking and browsing ladies, order their catalog and you will have a sweet time in front of you.
Corinne
