Yeah, I just wrote down most of the ideas on this thread. Once I get home and chores done, I will see what's transpired in the coop. I have 2 pages of ideas (yellow legal pad).

Annika: no one puts their feet in their mouths here...thats just icky...

Karen: I will contact you Sunday and maybe we can share lists. I will call from my home phone so I dont drop the call with my stupid cell phone.

Lora: check your sneezing chicken post. I gave you a remedy.

Thats all I got for now. Oh, I just ordered the book COOKING WITH HEIRLOOMS. Cant wait to make & eat something out of it...

Im ree-wy hung-rwy wight now..

I need to get myself over to all of these sites. I have so much to learn. I have been slowly changing the way we eat and trying to stay away from anything processed. Unfortunately, hubby is a big junk food junkie. He has changed some things~like no more soda and mostly drinking water. Little by little.
Teresa~Enjoy your trip.
Dawn~I looked at your blog. I guess that is booger green.

Okee dokee. I'm back from the farmers market. Had a wonderful time. Will have to fill you in on that later. Feeling the need to figure out who's doing what when and what ideas/projects are on the horizon. So I will be buried in 52 pages of posts for the next hour or two doing a quick and dirty who/what/when/where/how/why search regarding the mavens. Will be peeking in to see if anything earth shattering transpires here during that time. Here I go..................

Let me tell ya it's not much fun checking in when there's no one to play with. Are y'all outside enjoying the beautiful day or what?

Trying to scare the house into shape I'm an indifferent house keeper and trying to do better, because we live in a small space. Things do creep up on ya. I got the last copy of AVM that I could find anywhere local. I'll try to catch up on my reading tonight and maybe we can get the others to join in. I'm willing to loan my copy out once I've read it and copied all of the resources I need to go pick up some notebooks and send off a package for my tea swap. I wish we all lived closer, this time difference is a booger!

Annika, my darlin', my MTR! Thank you from keeping me feeling like everyone went outside to play without telling me......

First, in going through the posts I realized I need to check up on a few things with you.
1. How's your brother?
2. How's your ankle? and what did you do to break it (if I may ask - if not, move on to #3).
3. Fill us in on details about your health issues and doctor visits if you're okay with that. I'm thinking that there's a wealth of info and experience here that might help you. Also I'm a firm believer in the closer we are to nature the less we need to depend on pharmaceutical drugs and the healthier we will be in the long run. (I'm not opposed to ever using pharmaceuticals but I believe should be used as a last resort - or at least not the first or second.)

Okay, back to your post. You are a better maven than I because I would buy a second copy of AVM to loan out before lending mine. There are certain books that I must have with me for ready reference and I even though I'm only on page 55-ish, I can tell this is one of them. I have it by my side most of the time - except for now of course when I'm writing about it.

God bless -

Okay, ladies, here's what I have. I did searches on 'idea', 'project', 'suggest' and 'think' (that one was a doozy to get through). This is what I came up with. Like I said earlier, it's a quick and dirty list so I'm sure there are ideas and people that I've left out. So if you are one of those people or people that had an idea (don't go crazy with that one, girls) please let me know. Also I noted whether the person associated with the suggestion was the originator or whether they were referring to someone else's suggestion (sometimes I couldn't find the orginal post, just the reference). AND I included the date and time of the post if you want to refer back for more information.
*****
Here goes:

Rene
9/11-8:26pm – suggested keeping journals
9/17-8:45am – suggested “where to focus first” ideas
9/17-10:38am – suggested PMJ mavens T-shirt
9/22-8:58am – suggested heirloom minor at Farmgirl U
9/22-9:18am – suggested book loan program

Annika / Librarian (Websites, Books, General Resources)
9/15-12:17pm – suggested handing out packets of info & creating a blog site
9/15-7:13pm – suggested seed-saving clearinghouse
9/16-7:55pm – reffering to badge connected to slowfood/heirloom resources
9/22-6:58am – suggested buying our books from SSE (Seed Savers Exchange)

Dawn / Mama Hen; Blogger; Brochure designer (& Project coordinator?)
9/12-8:11am – requested farming statistics site
9/12-1:16pm – suggested speaking at garden clubs, etc.
9/15-9:43am – referring to mini-gather for west coast girls
9/15-11:41am – suggested grouping mavens by geography to spread the word at fairs, etc.
9/16-7:09am – suggested raffle fund-raiser
9/19-6:34pm – suggested brochure to hand out at farmers markets, etc.
9/20-6:13pm – suggested gathering in Ohio
9/22-9:57am – suggested group mission statement
9/22-2:34pm – suggested gift basket/silent auction fund-raiser
9/22-2:50pm – suggested bag labels
9/27-5:25am – suggested idea of friendship garden

Karen / How to database: How To’s & Helpful Hints; Statistician
9/12-3:18pm - suggested Maven Idea Bank: First steps we’ll take
9/13-9:16am – suggested including brief desc with website suggestions
9/16-4:32pm – referring to Annika’s idea of including seeds from the endangered list in our gardens
9/20-4:17pm – suggested including recipe(s) in brochure
9/22-5:09pm – suggested topic groupings for henhouse threads
9/23-7:32am – suggested HM chatroom
9/26-7:42pm – suggested letter of support for NO-GMO companies
9/27-7:00am – suggested project coordinator duty (that would be Dawn?)

Alee / Treasurer (Pay Pal)
9/14-5:54pm – suggested “how to save seeds” personal experience topic

Amy Grace / Seed swapping
9/15-7:13pm – suggested seed-swapping clearinghouse

Teresa Sue / Badge Badger
9/17-1:17pm – suggested personal mission statement
9/20-9:44am – suggested HM book club
9/20-10:16am – suggested seasons section
9/22-10:01am – suggested badge placement ideas
9/23-4:55am – suggested monthly post in herb forum

Tina / Bumper stickers
9/22-4:48pm – suggested using personal etsy shops for fund-raising
9/26-7:06pm – suggested taste tests @ farmers markets, public events, etc.
*****
These are the projects that I see without keepers:
Packet designer (per Annika’s suggestion – probably doesn’t need a full-fledged keeper but thought I’d put it out here)
Fund-raiser coordinator (this may fall in Alee’s domain as Treasurer but she may need help with this when she’s in school – again, just putting it out there)
Chatroom coordinator (didn’t get any response on this one so it may be a moot point – I can’t spell “boo coo” but I can spell “moot”)
Book Club coordinator - taken by the wonderful and witty Teresa Sue

Whew! Input, please........

My brother is at least in therapy and responding to medicines. For which I am glad. We are not very close, but I am worried for him and love him nevertheless. He drowned when we were both small and was revived but has some brain damage. . He is middle aged and depressed. I'm not happy with chemical medicines either, but I'm not savvy with alternatives.
Lessee, My ankle isn't healing as fast as I want, I busted the darned thing by falling into a varmint burrow and then falling on top of the ankle....not one of my most favorite moments. I broke a piece off the bottom of the thibia (sp?), the outside ankle bone. I can hobble with out the brace now and am not gulping down the serious pain meds, which is good. I think with careful use and gentle stretching it will heal ok.

I was born with stomach troubles and have always had them, so that is miserable, but I live with it.
When I was a giddy young thing I drank a lot and burned my liver. Not proud of it, but I don't drink a drop now and haven't for some time. In '91 I was in a terrific car crash and messed up just about everything but my silly sense of humour. So now, my thyroid is failing, I'm mildly overweight and have high blood pressure. My liver is giving me trouble and I am slowly losing my sight (that's another story! I have an eye virus named after me!!! neat huh?). I have panic disorder, crowd phobia and nervous system problems, Reynaudes syndrome (numb and tingly hands and feet) just for starters. I'm lucky and grateful to be alive, and try to make the most of every day. But I am on a bunch of pills and on disability. Not too happy with all of this. (Bleh!)

I aim to get healthy and lose some of this pudge and hopefully kick half of the pills I'm on. For instance, I only have high blood pressure when I'm over weight, so I lose the weight and likely my blood pressure will get better. So I am VEWY INTWESTED in all of this raw and NON-GMO food and in growing my own foods and , I believe gaining back a lot of my health...if it doesn't work, I have lost nothing right?

And I've made a lot of wonderful friends =) I hope that wasn't too much information...you DID ask.
I am looking at all of this as a divine push in the right direction, I think a lot of us feel that we were looking for a direction and were suddenly given one. I am happy to be where I am going and at long last going in a direction that I feel right about

Annika, definitely not too much information. I feel like I understand what you're going through so much better now and can pray appropriately.

I was thinking today about how finding MJ came at the perfect time for Dawn and I and then we found each other at the perfect time and then Rene posted this thread at the perfect time and then we all found each other at the perfect time and who knows what other wonderful things the future holds. I really can't wait to see what the coming year brings for you. I have seen you absolutely blossom since this thread has started. We may have to hold you back from shoving MaryJane out of the way at the BBB - although I think she'd be thrilled to see the metamorphosis. Roar away, my darlin', and you have an e-mail - or at least you will in a couple of minutes.

God bless -

It seems that I may have posted where I wasn't suppose to. I'm so sorry ladies. Please forgive me. I am very interested in participating, but will be contented to watch from the sidelines and read all that you wonderful ladies are doing. :)

Will try to delete previous post. Again, my apologizes.

Brenda, post away here! Somewhere is these massive pages of posts is one where we all agreed that anyone can be an Heirloom Maven and post here. Anyone can read what's in the henhouse, but you can't post there unless you're in the 'hood. Sometimes people just don't have the $20 for the membership fee. I've been there and I know a lot of us have. And others haven't joined because they haven't had a good reason to - a couple of the new sisters here joined after this henhouse started.

My point is: We're happy to have you - comment on anything at all - we'd love your input. If you want to comment on something you read in the henhouse, just boogie over here and post away.

We've been waiting awhile for the henhouse to get set up and now that we have it, I (for one) am extra excited because we can organize our thoughts better than putting them in one long continuous seemingly/hopefully never-ending thread. Not only are you welcome to post here, I'm personally inviting you to participate in the book club. Let me know if you're interested - post here - and if you have the book already. When we officially kick off the club with our first book, we'll put a thread under chapter chatter so that everyone will have an opportunity to post. (Mavens, did I speak out of turn or does that sound reasonable to you?)

If I hadn't been sitting here for the last few hours working on the projects list you would already have a post from me saying how much I appreciate your sharing the experience you had with your county extension agent. Dawn had already posted the information but it meant a lot to me to have you think enough of the group to share it personally. I haven't contacted my county extension agent yet and now I'm glad I haven't because I'll speak softer (and carry a bigger stick).

We're all in this adventure together and everyone is important so please stay, read, post, enjoy!

God bless -
Karen ~ Chickherder & Farmgirl Sister #311

Brenda, would you please let us know what it was that gave you the impression that you were posting at the wrong place? I thought it was my post and now Annika thinks it's hers. For our benefit, please let us know so we don't do it again. You can send me (or whoever) an e-mail directly if you don't want to post here.

Just so's you know, I was very glad to see your posts and have another voice to chat with. If any/all/some of my posts caused you to think you weren't a welcome voice, I apologize. I hope you'll jump back in - we'll be glad to have you.

Yea, I know she posted that she would call me tomorrow because her cell phone has been cutting out. But I left her a message this morning and another one this afternoon. I know she's got the farmer's market opening this weekend so maybe she's just worn out. It feels weird without our fearless leader, doesn't it?

Hi ladies!

Wow you have been busy while I have been away!

Right now I can't be in charge of fundraising. I have 16 credits at school, Nora, Doug and some obligations that I am still in need of taking care of. After all that is taken care of I think I will need a breather of a month or so with no obligations before I take more on again.

So I just sat down to catch up on posts because I've been busy a. celebrating my husbands birthday and getting him ready to go on a week long fishing trip (which means I have the house mostly to myself for a whole week - yay) b. working too much and c. taking my son in to town to buy costumes for "Spirit Week" otherwise known as homecoming week.
All of which means I haven't posted in a couple of days and yesterday didn't even get to read - anyhow 45 minutes later.....
You ladies are so wonderful and filled with good ideas and energy. I don't have the available time to post much because of work, commute time, kids etc. but I am keeping the flame alive in my home. I feel honored that I get to work with all of you on this endeavor.
Talk to you all tomorrow although if last Sunday is any indication I will be the only one posting:) ah well....I'll try to do three pages alone - after all we have a reputation to uphold
